It’s A Great Day For A White Wedding
Sarah Smyth & Mark Brown
When I saw you, I fell in love and you smiled because you knew – William Shakespeare
Doctor Sarah Smyth from Killyman, Dungannon met Software Architect Mark Brown from Coleraine online on a dating app in 2017. Their first date was spent chatting and getting to know each other over coffee, something just clicked and they have been inseparable ever since. Getting to know each other and letting their romance and love grow led Mark to propose in Amsterdam by the Canals, giving Sarah a beautiful 3 stone diamond ring with a platinum band from Ellisons in Belfast.
Deciding to get married on 25th June 2022 in Lough Erne Resort meant they were now excitedly planning their wedding and had to decide on a theme, menus, guest lists and also find the perfect dress and suit.
Sarah had always wanted a white themed wedding as it is so stylish and classic, they incorporated this theme with draping the room in white and also with gorgeous white flowers and natural greenery. Finding the perfect dress didn’t take very long as Sarah fell in love with the first dress she tried on in La Boda Bridal in Banbridge, Sarah said “I just knew straight away it was the dress for me”
Bridesmaid dresses for friends Danielle McKeown, Linzi Dodds and Rebecca Smylie all came from Creative Ideas in Armagh. The grooms suit along with suits for Best Man – Finbar Foxwell and Groomsmen; friend Thomas English, Marks brother-in-law Neil Kirkpatrick and Ushers including Sarah’s uncle Colin Smyth and friend David Bigger all came from Red Groomswear, Belfast.
Sarah and Mark both agreed that they wouldn’t change a thing about their day and even stuck to their budget, Sarah said “seeing my vision for the day coming together was the best part” Sarah was also very glad that she didn’t find the planning at all stressful. The highlight of the day was when their pageboy Freddie ran up the aisle when Sarah arrived shouting “Sarah is here”, it got a good laugh from all of their 165 guests and is certainly something to look back on with fondness and off course remind Freddie about when he is older. The party continued into the night after the stunning couple enjoyed their first dance as man and wife to ‘Bless The Broken Road’ by Rascal Flatts.
The highlight of the day was as Mark said “seeing Sarah for the first time”, Sarah couldn’t name just one thing saying there were so many highlights for her. They also both said that they wouldn’t change a thing and that the day was just perfect for them.
When we got talking to Mark and Sarah after they had a blissful honeymoon in Dubai and the Maldives they reminisced about their day and gave this advice to other couples planning their own wedding “Do it the way you want as it’s your day”.
They are finding married life great and said “we lived together for 2 years before the wedding so not much different really”
