A Magical Love Story
Love is not finding someone to live with; it’s finding someone you can’t imagine living without
Love knows no bounds, and for Becky Johnston and Callum Ramsey, it blossomed in the most modern of ways – on Tinder. Their journey from swiping right to saying “I do” was nothing short of magical, culminating in a Harry Potter-themed wedding that wove together their love story with their shared passion for the wizarding world.
Becky Johnston, a 25-year-old Children’s Occupational Therapist working for the NHS, hails from the charming town of Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh. Callum Ramsey, a 27-year-old lorry driver from the same town, was about to become her partner in adventure. The couple met on the dating app Tinder, a modern twist on a classic love story. Their first date took place at Little Wings Pizzeria, and as they say, the rest is history.
One of the most enchanting chapters of their love story was the proposal. During a visit to the Belfast Christmas markets, Callum took Becky to Murray & Co jewellers to try on engagement rings. He slyly informed her that the ring would take at least six months to be ready, setting the stage for an unforgettable surprise.
On Christmas Eve, with Luke Combs’ “Forever After All” playing in the background, Becky found Callum kneeling in front of the Christmas tree. He proposed, and that iconic song later became their first dance at their wedding. The magic of the proposal set the tone for the enchanting journey ahead.
Before they became husband and wife, Becky and Callum spent four wonderful years together. Their shared desire to marry young and savour a few kid-free years of marital adventures was a testament to their love and commitment.
Becky’s journey to find the perfect wedding dress was nothing short of dramatic. She encountered several hurdles, including a poor-quality dress and a replacement that was two sizes too big, just six weeks before the wedding. Fortunately, Serendipity Bridal in Fivemiletown came to the rescue, offering Becky a stunning Suzanne Neville sample dress that she fell in love with.
The experience was stressful at the time, but with the help of the amazing team at Serendipity, Becky found her dream dress. Bridesmaids’ dresses were purchased from ASOS, while the flower girl dresses were chosen from Monsoon. Becky’s Maid of Honour was her best friend Amber, and her two bridesmaids were her younger twin sisters, Megan and Rachel.
For the groomswear, Callum and his groomsmen, including the best man, Nathan, and groomsmen Nathan and Darren, donned Cavanni Suits from Gary Walker Clothing in Irvinestown.
The most enjoyable part of wedding planning for the couple was undoubtedly the menu tasting at Lusty Beg. They had the opportunity to sample every wine, starter, main course, and dessert, creating a memorable and personalized culinary experience for their guests.
Becky and Callum’s wedding day, which took place on May 20th 2023, was nothing short of magical. They exchanged their vows at St Macartins Cathedral and celebrated their union with a reception on Lusty Beg Island, Kesh, surrounded by 120 of their closest friends and family.
The couple chose a Harry Potter theme for their wedding, a nod to their shared love for the wizarding world. Their special day incorporated various magical elements, including a Harry Potter-themed table plan (with the top table being Hogwarts) and golden snitch favours made from Ferrero Rochers adorned with golden wings.
The choice of a Harry Potter theme was an obvious one for Becky and Callum, as they cherished the tradition of watching the entire Harry Potter series every Christmas. In fact, this upcoming Christmas will be even more special, as they plan to visit the Harry Potter Studios in London.
While their wedding day was nearly flawless, it did come with a minor hiccup. Becky’s dress lost its corset string, but her mother came to the rescue, lacing her up with an old shoe string, adding a unique touch to her bridal attire.
In terms of budget, they admitted that they went over, but the experience was worth every penny. The couple extended the festivities with a second day for their guests, featuring a BBQ on the island and a DJ playing until 4 am the following night.
When asked about the highlight of their wedding day, both Becky and Callum agreed that the ceremony stood out. The moment they looked into each other’s eyes at the altar was an unforgettable experience, a symbol of their love and commitment to one another.
Looking back, the newlyweds wouldn’t change a thing about their magical day. They are thrilled with how everything turned out, despite the initial dress troubles and budget deviations. Their first dance to Luke Combs’ “Forever After All” was a fitting beginning to their journey as a married couple.
For couples planning their own weddings, Becky’s advice is to take time choosing the dress and have a discussion with the alterations team before committing to a specific style. The importance of preparation and communication cannot be stressed enough.
Following their wedding, Becky and Callum embarked on a honeymoon to Greece, where they explored various islands for two weeks. Their love story continues, with plans to move to Australia and embark on a new adventure as husband and wife. For them, married life has brought them even closer, deepening their love and strengthening their partnership for whatever the future may hold.
