Bronwyn and Philip’s romantic wedding in Drenagh Estate is something so many brides dream of. Not only did they get married outside in the venue’s stunning Moon Garden but their intimate reception was held in the stately surroundings of the main house.
However, let’s go back a few steps to the proposal. After being together for just five months, Philip got down on one knee at the picturesque Kinnego Bay in Donegal with a ring from Beaverbrooks in Belfast. Of course, Bronwyn said yes, and the planning began. They managed to plan and have their big day within 10 months of the proposal.
The venue is usually the first big decision, and, in this case, it was no different. Bronwyn says it was the best part of the planning process, “Our first visit to Drenagh Estate, which I picked for the reception venue and the ceremony (outside in the moon garden), I fell in love with it instantly.”
With no specific theme in mind, they knew their day was going to be intimate with just 65 guests and so Bronwyn added, “We really focused on good entertainment, a relaxed atmosphere and guest enjoyment.”
The bride wore an elegant off the shoulder dress that she got from the bridal showroom in Derry. Her sisters were her two bridesmaids who wore pewter full-length dresses with lovely waist and shoulder details, that were purchased online.
The groom and his brother, the best man, wore navy three-piece suits from Red Groomswear and accessorised with brown shoes and a cream single rose boutonnière from McCartan Flowers in Limavady.
As entertaining the guests was the biggest priority for this couple, they had lawn games and Drenagh’s house had a cinema room with a host of movies for the kids to watch. Bronwyn adds, “We made use of the piano in the grand entrance hall of the main house with a fantastic local jazz piano musician, John Leighton, and singer, Leanne Doherty, for pre-dinner reception drink entertainment.”
Even though the reception was epic, the highlight of the day for both the bride and groom was their ceremony and exchanging those all-important vows.
The happy pair are settling down to married life after travelling to South Africa and Mauritius for their honeymoon. Bronwyn says, “I never imagined I could be this happy. We really are perfect for each other.”
