Ciara, a pharmacist and Patrick a mushroom farmer first met in a local Pub even though they had a few mutual friends and lived only ten minutes apart… explains Ciara “We first met in McAleers pub in Dungannon (not the most romantic place) got chatting through mutual friends and arranged to go on our first date a few weeks later and the rest is history! Even though we only live 10 minutes apart we had never properly met until then. Patrick’s friend actually said to us that he knew we would get married the night we met as we just clicked. As soppy as he sounded he was right!! We got engaged two and a half years later, Patrick booked us into the Marker hotel in Dublin as a post Christmas treat and proposed to me on our first night there, I was so emotional and was totally caught by surprise, I always thought I would know when he was going to propose but he was so calm the whole night he gave nothing away! We went the following morning to choose our ring on Grafton St. he knew how fussy I am and I always wanted to choose my own ring we got my ring in John Brereton jewelers”
Ciara and Patrick set their wedding date for 30th Dec 2016 so Ciara set about dress shopping, Ciara found ‘her’ dress in Serendipity bridal boutique in Fivemiletown, “it was the second shop I went to and the second dress I tried on, my mum actually picked it out for me, I thought I would have went for something very plain and simple but I just fell in love with the dress, I loved the detail but yet it was fitted and simplistic in ways too though glitzy enough for a Christmas wedding. My best friend wanted me to buy it there and then as she just loved it but I wanted to try a few other shops before committing. I loved the whole experience of dress shopping and the girly days out to find the one!”
Ciara had two bridesmaids, her sister Lisa McConville and best friend Shauna Jordan and two flower girls- Niamh Daly and Ella Daly (Patrick’s nieces).
The bridesmaid dresses where Ralph Lauren evening wear from House Of Fraser not very typical bridesmaid dresses but Ciara loved the color for the ‘New Years Theme’ her and Patrick had chosen, the flower girls dresses were also from House Of Fraser.
Patrick got his suit and the groomsmen suits from ‘Cuba Clothing’ in Duncannon, Ciara said “Stephen Mohan from Cuba Clothing was a pleasure to work with and helped us to style out all the men perfectly. We had two groomsmen, both Patrick’s brothers Gary and Damien Daly.”
Ciara and Patrick were quite chilled out about the wedding planning doing what they could as they went along and tried to remain organized so that there was no rushing around at the last minute finding the most stressful and tricky job to be planning the table plans/seating arrangements.
The couple got married in St.Peters Chapel Collegeland, which is just across the road from Ciaras house so she had no option only to walk! The wedding reception was held the Four Seasons Hotel Monaghan where over two hundred guests celebrated with the newly weds. Ciara said “We loved the idea of a post Christmas wedding as we knew our family were all home for Christmas and most people were off work so it meant all our close family and friends were together for NYE the following night.”
Ciara and Patrick didn’t work to a budget as such but were realistic about what they wanted as they were in the middle of building their new home.
Ciara’s sister in law Alannah who is very creative helped to design a sweet cart and hand made a few ‘ferrero roche’ trees which went down a treat with the guests. The hotel were also very creative and accommodating creating a beautiful Christmas/New Year theme in the hotel.
The highlight of my day for Ciara and Patrick was seeing each other for the first time and the journey to the hotel when the couple could just sit back chill and catch up over a few glasses of champagne!
Ciara and Patrick shared their first dance to Ed Sherran ‘Teneriffe Sea.’
Ciara advice to other couples “enjoy it all and don’t get stressed out in the run up to the big day over the small stuff as everything falls into place on the day and it really is true, it is the quickest day of your lives and remember everyone is there to celebrate your day so just take it all in and enjoy! We thoroughly enjoyed the lead up to the wedding with family and friends calling and as it was just after Christmas and everyone was feeling very festive and relaxed!”
The couple went to the Maldives and Dubai on honeymoon.
