Autumnal Elegance & Unforgettable Craic: Stacey & Stephen’s Wedding Celebration
For Stacey McClelland and Stephen Duckett, love bloomed from the fun and chaos of nights out and cheeky social media exchanges—and six years later, their wedding was every bit as vibrant and heartfelt as their love story.
The proposal was one for the memory books. While on holiday in their beloved Albufeira, Portugal, Stephen surprised Stacey with a romantic, candlelit proposal on their balcony, complete with rose petals, soft music, and a sunset backdrop. “I was in a total state of shock,” Stacey admits. “It was amazing and totally unexpected.” The effort behind the surprise—Stephen secretly shopping for decorations during the trip—made it all the more special. They celebrated their engagement at a dreamy clifftop restaurant, floating in their little “engaged bubble.”
A Dress Meant to Be
Stacey found her dream gown at Creative Ideas Bridal in Armagh. Though the dress wasn’t what she originally imagined, with some gentle encouragement from bridal consultant Pauline and the addition of custom lace sleeves, it quickly became the one. “You just know it’s your dress when your mum starts crying,” she laughs. The bridesmaids wore beautiful dresses from Ever Pretty, perfectly complementing the autumnal colour palette of rusts, reds, and earthy tones.
Stephen and his groomsmen were kitted out in smart, stylish suits from Statement Menswear, Portadown, with the groom’s blazer tying into the seasonal hues of the wedding. Together with their bridal party—cousin Keeley and best friends Clara, Katie, and Hannah, plus groomsmen Chris (Stephen’s brother), and pals Thomas, William, and David—the couple created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for their 110 guests.
A Day to Remember
The couple tied the knot on 15th November 2024 at Mullavilly Parish Church, before heading to their reception at the Leighinmohr House Hotel, a venue known for its outstanding food—and which did not disappoint. With no strict theme, the day was elegantly laced with personal touches: autumnal florals, custom stationery, and adorable nods to their beloved dog Luna, who made a cameo on signage and seating charts.
Even their surname got the spotlight. Guests received cute favour cards that read “You’re Ducking Great”—complete with mini resin ducks. “It was a wee quirky way to include our name,” Stacey shares.
Musical Moments & Laughter-Filled Memories
Music was at the heart of their celebration. Stacey’s cousin Kiyan provided emotional vocals during the ceremony—including a heartfelt rendition as he walked his twin sister Keeley, one of the bridesmaids, down the aisle. Bekky Bridge entertained guests during the drinks reception, while DJ Greener’s meal entertainment was a showstopper. “From the moment dessert was served, the craic was ninety!” Stacey laughs. A spontaneous lip sync battle had guests roaring with laughter and was an instant highlight. “It avoided that usual post-meal lull and kept everyone buzzing. I cannot wait to watch the video back!”
Just Perfect
Despite a near disaster just days before when their limo broke down, everything else went off without a hitch—thanks to a quick-thinking car hire company and a solid team of vendors. “I just remember smiling and laughing all day,” Stacey says. “I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.”
Their first dance to “Black and White” by Niall Horan (stripped version, of course) was a soft, romantic moment that reflected their love story perfectly. “It’s not traditional, but it was us,” Stacey says—echoing the advice she gives to other couples: “Do what you want. If it doesn’t suit you, don’t do it. We didn’t even have a cake—and no one noticed!”
Happily Ever After
After the big day, Stacey and Stephen enjoyed a relaxing mini-moon to Lusty Beg Island with their pup Luna. A few months later, they jetted off to New York City followed by an unforgettable Caribbean cruise.
Married life? “Not that different from before—but there’s something so lovely about calling Stephen ‘my husband’,” Stacey beams. “I’m still getting used to my new surname though!”
