In the quiet village of Kesh in County Fermanagh, everyone knows everyone. The winding country roads, the familiar faces at the local church, and the laughter echoing from family homes make it the kind of place where stories grow slowly over time. And for Hannah Miller and Mark Loane, their story had been quietly unfolding long before either of them realised it.
Their families had known of each other for years. Growing up in the same village meant their paths crossed often — in the halls of primary school, in the corridors of secondary school, and along the country road where Mark’s family farm sat just up from Hannah’s home house. Passing each other became an ordinary part of life.
Mark’s father, Cyril, was a regular visitor to Hannah’s home for a good old-fashioned ceilidh — the kind where tea flows endlessly and stories are shared late into the evening. With a grin, he would often joke about which of his five sons might end up winning over the one and only Miller daughter. At the time, no one gave it much thought. After all, Hannah and Mark were just teenagers.
But sometimes the simplest beginnings lead to the greatest stories.
At sixteen years old, somewhere between the chatter and laughter of school days, the spark finally appeared — not in some grand romantic setting, but in the backseat of the school bus. What began as friendship slowly grew into something deeper, something that felt as natural as the village they both called home.
Years passed, and the connection between them only grew stronger. On the 16th of December 2018, Mark made it official and asked Hannah to be his girlfriend. From that moment on, they built their life side by side — Hannah pursuing her passion as a midwife and Mark working as a steel erector while helping on the family farm.
Then came a winter trip that would change everything.
On the 14th of December 2022, the couple found themselves in Edinburgh during the festive season. The city was glowing with Christmas lights and warmth, and after a beautiful meal together they stepped into a cosy little Christmas grotto pub. It was there, in that quiet and magical setting, that Mark decided it was time.
Mark is known for being cool, calm and collected — but Hannah could see the nerves written all over him. Instead of the traditional moment on one knee, he simply reached into his pocket, pulled out a ring box, opened it, and with a smile said the words:
“Will we make it official now?”
Inside the box was a ring that could not have been more perfect for Hannah — a stunning white gold double halo ring from Mercers jewellers in Enniskillen. It was elegant, timeless, and completely her.
The answer, of course, was yes.
To celebrate, they headed to another bar for a bottle of bubbles before making the most important calls of the night — the excited FaceTimes home to share their news with family.
Three years later, on the 18th of November 2025, their love story came full circle.
They married in Ardress Parish Church just outside Kesh — the very same church where Hannah’s parents had married exactly 25 years earlier, with the same minister. Their reception followed at the Manor House Country Hotel near Enniskillen, surrounded by 161 of their closest friends and family.
The wedding reflected Hannah perfectly: timeless, elegant, and filled with charming bow details from her beautiful gown to the bridesmaids’ dresses and decorations. But what truly made the day unforgettable were the moments that carried deep meaning.
After their first dance to “Life With You” by Kelsey Hart, Hannah changed into her mother’s own wedding dress. Together with her parents, they shared a dance to the same song her mum and dad had danced to twenty-five years before. There were few dry eyes in the room.
Another special moment came as Hannah arrived at the church with her granda, chauffeured by her great-uncle Bert in his vintage Ford Escort RS2000 Lotus — a journey filled with pride, nerves, and love.
Of course, no wedding story is complete without a little chaos. The night before the wedding, the mother of the bride accidentally threw a wedding gift of money into an open fire. Realising her mistake, she quickly grabbed the shovel and rescued the badly burnt notes — a story that would bring laughter for years to come.
Looking back, both Hannah and Mark agree that the highlight of the day was the speeches. Mark surprised everyone — especially Hannah — with a heartfelt groom’s speech, while the others filled the room with laughter and memories.
Just two days after becoming husband and wife, the adventure continued. They flew to Miami, cruised around the Caribbean, and finished their honeymoon with four nights in Nashville.
Today, married life for Hannah and Mark feels both familiar and special. They had already built a home together before the wedding, but something about marriage brought a deeper connection — a sense of officially sealing the life they had already begun.
Their story isn’t one that started with fireworks or dramatic moments. Instead, it grew quietly over years — through school days, country roads, family gatherings, and shared dreams.
A love story rooted in friendship, laughter, and a village that watched it all unfold.
And it all began…
in the backseat of a school bus.
