A Love Worth the Wait: Perfectly-Timed “I Do”
Some love stories don’t rush—and for Keilie Kirk and Kyle Semple, that’s exactly what made theirs so special.
Hailing from Dungannon and Magherafelt, their paths first crossed thanks to a little behind-the-scenes matchmaking from two very important people in their lives their Maid of Honour and Best Man. While their friends were certain the pair were meant to be, love took its time. Despite the encouragement, it would be another two years before Keilie and Kyle finally found their way to each other and when they did, it was worth every second of the wait.
From that moment on, their relationship blossomed into something grounded, genuine, and full of quiet certainty. Over nearly five years together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and most importantly, family sharing their journey with their kids at the heart of it all.
Kyle’s proposal was beautifully simple and deeply meaningful. On a Saturday evening at home, with their son by their side, he asked Keilie to marry him choosing the very same date he had first asked her to be his girlfriend. The ring was everything Keilie had ever dreamed of: an elegant infinity twist band flowing seamlessly into a stunning diamond, a design Kyle had always known she loved.
With just 12 weeks to plan their big day, Keilie embraced the experience with creativity and calm determination. After visiting three local bridal boutiques, she found “the one” it was a gorgeous Mori Lee dress. The experience itself was one she’ll always treasure, thanks to the patience and support of those who helped guide her, even when she wasn’t quite sure what she was looking for.
Keeping things personal and stylish, Keilie chose bridesmaid dresses from JJs House for her two closest friends, Sonya Crawford and Ashton Frizelle, the latter a lifelong friend with family ties that go back generations. Kyle, meanwhile, suited up alongside his groomsmen, Jason Crawford and Lee Finlay, with sharp looks from Tux and Tails in Dungannon.
From designing invitations to creating floral details, Keilie especially loved the creative side of wedding planning. The biggest challenge? Getting guests to RSVP on time—a struggle many couples will know all too well!
On Thursday 19th February 2026, the couple said “I do” in St. Anne’s Church in Dungannon, followed by a beautiful reception at The Royal Hotel surrounded by 85 of their closest family and friends. Their theme was understated yet elegant, centred around their bridal party colours, woven throughout the flowers, décor, and finishing touches.
The day unfolded just as they had hoped filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. In true wedding fashion, there was even a dramatic twist: just an hour before walking down the aisle, Keilie found herself in minor injuries with their son, who had taken a fall and needed staples. Despite the scare, the day continued seamlessly—a testament to the resilience and calm the couple carried throughout.
Personal touches made the celebration even more special, including a QR code for guests to upload their own photos, creating a shared album of memories. Alongside a sweet cart and a fun-filled selfie mirror, the atmosphere was joyful, relaxed, and completely “them.”
For both Keilie and Kyle, the highlight of the day was simple yet profound celebrating their love surrounded by family, especially their children. For Keilie, however, one moment stood above all: finally sharing the same surname as her family.
Their first dance, to This I Promise You by Ronan Keating, perfectly captured the emotion of the day romantic, heartfelt, and full of meaning.
Looking back, there’s nothing they would change. Every detail came together exactly as they had imagined, proving that even a whirlwind 12-week plan can result in something truly magical.
Now settling into married life, things are as busy as ever but the newlyweds are looking forward to a well-earned honeymoon in Albufeira this May, where they’ll finally have time to pause, reflect, and celebrate the beginning of their next chapter together.
Their advice to other couples? Don’t stress everything has a way of falling into place.
And for Keilie and Kyle, it truly did.
