A Winter Proposal and a Love Built on Shared Adventures
For Orlágh O’Neill, an Agricultural Planner from Kildress, Co. Tyrone, and Jordan McCooe, a Project Manager from Portadown, Co. Armagh, their love story began in the early days of February 2021. What started as a simple meeting soon grew into a relationship rooted in companionship, shared interests and a genuine enjoyment of spending time together.
Over the next few years, their relationship flourished. With both leading busy professional lives, they cherished the time they could spend together, whether that meant simple evenings at home or planning little adventures. Their bond strengthened naturally, built on laughter, support and the feeling that they had truly found their person.
A Magical Proposal
Jordan planned a proposal that perfectly reflected their love of the outdoors and beautiful surroundings. On 30 December 2023, he surprised Orlágh with an overnight stay at the stunning Castle Leslie Estate.
As part of the trip, Jordan had organised a horse-riding hack around the estate’s picturesque grounds. Riding two beautiful white horses, the couple made their way through the tranquil landscape before arriving at the lake. When they dismounted for what Orlágh believed was simply a photograph, Jordan seized the moment and got down on one knee.
With the peaceful lake as their backdrop, he proposed with a ring he had carefully chosen himself from Jack Murphy Jewellers — a stunning platinum single halo round brilliant diamond with a pavé band. It was a moment filled with surprise, emotion and excitement for the future ahead.
Finding “The One”
As the wedding planning began, one of the most memorable moments for Orlágh was finding her dress. She and her mum visited Vintage Rose Bridal, where one gown immediately caught her eye.
“I love sparkle,” Orlágh laughs, explaining why the dress stood out straight away. Although she tried on several styles with the helpful guidance of the boutique staff, she kept returning to the same gown. With her mum by her side and no overwhelming opinions to sway her decision, she knew she had found the perfect dress.
A week later she returned with her bridesmaids so they could see the dress — and to find their own. Bridesmaid dresses were ordered online from JJ’s House, where the group loved the option of trying different styles and colours before making their final choice.
The Wedding Party
Orlágh was supported on the day by three special women in her life. Her sister, Terina Nogher, was Maid of Honour, while close friend Shauna Nugent and cousin Fiona Keane were bridesmaids. Completing the bridal party was her adorable flower girl, niece Katie-Rose Nogher.
Jordan was joined by his Best Man Declan McDonald, alongside close friends Conor McCormac and Conor Breen as groomsmen. The groomswear was sourced from Red Groomswear, ensuring the groom and his party looked the part for the big day.
The Big Day
After just under five years together, the couple said “I do” on 28 November 2025 at St Mary’s Chapel Dunamore, surrounded by more than 200 family members and friends.
One particularly special moment during the ceremony came when Jordan’s sister, Shannon, performed a song during the wedding mass — a heartfelt contribution that meant a great deal to the couple.
Following the ceremony, celebrations continued at the luxurious Lough Erne Resort, where the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a fantastic reception. The couple describe the day as running “really smooth — but really fast,” as they soaked up every moment.
A Reception to Remember
One of the most memorable highlights of the evening came after dinner with a lively “photo dash.” As Orlágh and Jordan entered the reception room, guests were given glow sticks which lit up the room with colour and energy.
With upbeat music playing, the newlyweds dashed from table to table taking photos with every group of guests. The moment quickly turned into a spontaneous party as people jumped up to dance and celebrate, creating an electric atmosphere that set the tone for the rest of the evening — and leaving the couple with an incredible collection of photos capturing everyone who shared their special day.
Their first dance was to the heartfelt song Life With You by Kelsey Hart, whose lyrics perfectly reflected their view of marriage and life together.
For their second dance, Orlágh shared a touching moment with her father Malachy O’Neill, while Jordan danced with his mother Edel McCooe to Days Like These by Luke Combs, an artist they both love.
A Perfect Start to Married Life
After the celebrations, the couple enjoyed a relaxing mini-moon at Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa, where they explored the beautiful grounds by bike and unwound with spa treatments.
Their main honeymoon followed in February, beginning with a week in Orlando, exploring the city and its famous theme parks. The adventure continued with a week-long cruise aboard Star of the Seas with Royal Caribbean International — an unforgettable experience filled with new sights and shared memories.
Life Together
Now settling into married life, Orlágh and Jordan are loving the new chapter they’ve begun together. The couple run their own livery yard from home, something that keeps them busy but allows them to build something meaningful side by side.
With three dogs — including two working dogs — there is always something happening in their household.
Their Advice to Future Couples
Looking back, the couple wouldn’t change a thing about their wedding day. Their advice to other couples is simple: enjoy the journey.
“Just enjoy the process and don’t let stress take away from how fun and exciting planning your wedding can be,” says Orlágh. “If something doesn’t go to plan, don’t worry — most of your guests won’t even notice.”
For Orlágh and Jordan, their wedding wasn’t just about one perfect day — it was the celebration of a love story still unfolding, filled with laughter, hard work, shared passions and plenty of adventures ahead. 💍✨
