When environmental health officer Sarah-Jane married Barry, the sales manager at the Lough Erne Resort, there was only one place they could have chosen to host their celebration.
Barry’s colleagues performed a guard of honour with golf clubs on their arrival to the hotel giving the day a very special, personal touch.
Sarah-Jane and Barry originally met when they worked together but Barry soon moved on to another job. Fate ensured they would meet again, “We met again randomly one night out. Some might say it was meant to be!” said Sarah-Jane
In August 2018 the couple took a trip to the North Coast for Sarah-Jane’s birthday and it was there that Barry popped the question.
“He said he had something he wanted to ask me!” Sarah-Jane told us, “Next thing I knew he was down on one knee and I couldn’t believe what was about to happen.”
The happy couple kept the news to themselves until they had a chance to go ring shopping together the following day.
As an indecisive person, Sarah-Jane found the process of picking her dress a bit overwhelming but discovered her perfect dress in Creative Ideas in Cookstown. “Stephanie in Creative Ideas was brilliant and made my experience all the better as she was so helpful and honest without ever being pushy.”
Sarah-Jane chose a stunning long sleeved, v neck gown with a spectacular intricately designed train.
Sarah-Jane chose classic full length dusty pink dresses for her bridal party. The bride’s sister Cheryl took the role of maid of honour.
Barry’s sister Claire joined the bride’s friends Julianne and Stephanie as bridesmaids with niece Sophie as junior bridesmaid.
The bridal party was completed by little flower girls and nieces of the bride Molly and Jenna who looked beautiful in custom made flower crowns.
Barry and the groomsmen were stylishly suited by Red Groomswear in Cookstown. The groom’s party included Barry’s best man and brother Damian, his three groomsmen and friends John, Pauric and Martin and the bride’s brother-in-law Andy who took on the role of usher.
The couple married in front of their 260 guests on 8th November 2019 in the Church of St Molaise in Monea.
As Sarah-Jane is an admirer of understated style she chose a subtle autumnal theme filled with gorgeous creams, rich burgundies and soft pinks.
Barry told us, “Nothing will ever compare to waiting at the top of the aisle on Sarah-Jane to arrive and then see how amazing she looked in her wedding dress. It was surreal.”
The couple along with their guests then made their way to Lough Erne Resort to celebrate in style.
The bright, dry day ensured that they were able to get plenty of outdoor photographs.
The rich colour scheme of the bridal party carried through to the reception, with the ‘naked’wedding cakes dressed with cream and burgundy roses.
The guests enjoyed a photobooth which took polaroid pictures to hang in a frame crafted by the best man Damian, “We now have a whole frame of special memories of our guests from the day which we loved looking at after the day was over and will treasure forever,” said the bride.
Good food and good music were at the top of the couple’s wishlist for their reception and they knew that Lough Erne Resort would not disappoint them on the menu front. The Rare Aul’ Stuff provided the music including the bride and groom’s first dance to ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis.
Looking back on the day the newlyweds say they wouldn’t change a thing, “The day itself was amazing and everything we could have wished for and more. It really was the best day of our lives to date and we would love to do it all over again.”
To other couples currently planning their wedding they would advise, “Do things exactly how you both want to do them, it’s your day after all.”
The couple continued their celebrations with a mini-moon in Ireland exploring the Ring of Kerry and staying in Adare Manor in Limerick. They are planning a honeymoon abroad in the near future.
“We are loving married life and couldn’t be happier right now. We have our nearest and dearest close-by, our health and wonderful wedding day memories to look back on so we are beyond rich in the things money can’t buy.”
