A Day that will go down in History
For newlyweds Renelle and Richard the highlight of their big day was seeing all their plans come together. They loved having all their close family and friends together, smiling, dancing and celebrating their perfect day.
This particular love story began after a random meeting at a mutual friend’s house. Personal trainer Renelle complimented maintenance engineer Richard’s smile. She sent a friend request on Facebook and the rest, as they say, is history.
Five years later and expecting their first child, Richard booked a ‘babymoon’ for Renelle with a big surprise. After upgrading their room at the Roe Park Resort Richard got down on one knee.
“I was so shocked I cried and of course I couldn’t wait to get the ring on!” said Renelle.
Richard knew exactly which type of ring Renelle loved as the year before they had gone for a look at the jewellery at Murray and Co in Belfast.
Renelle went searching for her wedding dress in a few bridal stores but nothing really gave her the ‘feeling’ that everyone talked about when you know you have found the one.
“I came across a dress on Verona Bridal Magherafelt Facebook page and thought WOW!” said Renelle, “I made an appointment straight away and it turned out to be my dress, I fell in love with it instantly!”
The beautifully embellished dress with sweetheart neckline was everything she wanted.
Renelle had three bridesmaids, her sister Joliene, sister-in-law Rebecca and best friend Hayley. She purchased bridesmaid dresses online but they weren’t exactly what she wanted. She had heard great reviews about seamstress Agnes from Sewgood dressmaking in Portadown so brought the dresses to her.
“I couldn’t recommend her enough as she brought my vision to life. She removed sleeves and added pearls, diamantes and bows.
Richard and his groomsmen looked stylish in suits from Statement Menswear in Portadown.
The groom’s party included good friends Stefan and Karl and brother-in-law Lee.
Both the ceremony and reception took place at the Silverbirch Hotel in Omagh on the 29th of August 2019 in front of nearly 100 guests.
With support from the Silverbirch’s wedding coordinator Rachel Browne, the day ran so smoothly from start to finish.
The enchanting setting of the Ulster Folk Park brought a unique flavour to the couple’s wedding photos. This fun experience was a highlight of the day for the bride and groom
The bride and groom couldn’t help going slightly over budget adding personal touches to their big day including a selfie mirror which was a big hit. “Even now I look through the album laughing!” said Renelle.
To kick off the evening celebrations, the couple danced together for the first time as husband and wife to Luke Combs’ ‘Beautiful Crazy’
Looking back over the planning process Renelle found the most stressful part to be confirming final numbers for the guest list.
“It’s really a waiting game, when I was at home I used to sit and wait for the postman hoping it was RSVPS.”
Overall though the couple really enjoyed the whole experience the advice they would offer other couples planning their wedding would be: “Enjoy every second, from the day we booked it until the big day itself it really flew in! Don’t sweat the small stuff and take a moment with your new husband on the day to take it all in.”
After the wedding Renelle and Richard spent four nights in a spa hotel in Estepona. They followed this with a family holiday with their little girl Karlie in Albufeira.
When asked how they are finding married life, Renelle replied, “I love how now we feel like a complete little family unit and are now known as The McMullans.”
