Nikki and Marcus first met online and planned their first date to be a walk at a local park, Nikki who is a ‘semi permanent make-up artist’ explains how Marcus proposed to her only ten months later “Our proposal was amazing, Marcus woke me early on the 5th Sep 2015 with a note and a single red rose, he left the house and I never seen him to later on that evening, he sent me on an ‘Alice in wonderland hunt’ eventually we ended up at the white rocks beach in Portrush were Marcus was in a cave, with candles and flowers, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife! It was amazing!” Nicki’s engagement ring is a stunning heart shaped diamond from Murray & Co where the couple had it made especially.
Nikki and Marcus set their wedding date for 31st December 2016 and chose Gracehall as the venue for both their wedding ceremony and reception. Marcus who works at Statement Menswear in Portadown had no issues choosing his wedding suit or dressing his grooms party as this is his ‘day job’ in fact Nikki had always wanted to design her own wedding dress so she set about finding a dressmaker who could make her dress, Nikki chose Alison Slaney to make her dress and she also made the bridesmaid, flower girl and mother of the bride dresses!
The theme Nikki and Marcus chose for their wedding was ‘Romantic with lots of sparkle and fun’ they had sparkly table clothes, fairy lights, candles, flowers, unicorns & flamingos
A photo booth, tattoo bar and a vintage popcorn machine.
Nikki said the highlight of the day for her was “Marcus singing me up the aisle and when my daughter Sofia, wrote a poem and recited after we were married it was beautiful” Nikki’s friend Joanne sand the song ‘Yours’ by Ella Henderson which the couple shared their first dance to followed soon after by Local piper Gail Graham
Who piped in the New Year, this was thoroughly enjoyed by the bride, groom and guests. Nikki and Marcus honeymooned in Iceland.
The newly married couples advice to other couples who are wedding planning at the moment is “take everything as it comes, it’s your day, do your thing! “
