The First Sparks Of Love
When you find that one that’s right for you, you feel like they were put there for you,
you never want to be apart.

Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist Support Worker Nicole Patton first met IT Consultant Trevor Agnew on a night out in Belfast, Trevor using that old adage “do you have a lighter” as a chat up line, after swapping numbers and then going on a few dates, Nicole and Trevor soon found themselves inseparable and moved in to their first house together 18 months later, Nicole and Trevor both said “we both knew what we wanted and that was each other”
The proposal took place a few years later on Trevor’s birthday and the anniversary of the day they met 4 years prior. After getting ready to go out for dinner at Bert’s Jazz Bar in Belfast, Nicole walked into the living room to find Trevor on one knee with their pup Oscar sitting beside him, Trevor said “We have a little question for you. Will you marry me?” Nicole off course shouted yes while the champagne was popping, they then continued with their celebrations over a beautiful meal and jazz music in Bert’s Jazz Bar. Nicole’s pear shaped diamond with double halo and diamond set shoulders engagement ring came from Lunn’s Belfast.
Setting a date turned out to be quite easy after visiting the Rosspark Hotel in Kells, they knew they had found the perfect location and were pleasantly surprised when they were told that the 30th July 2022 was available, Nicole and Trevor had planned for acsummer 2023 date, so when Trevor jumped at the earlier date it shocked Nicole. Leaving the couple 9 months to plan the wedding, they had thought that a lot of suppliers would be booked out, however they found that they had no trouble getting their chosen suppliers. Nicole and Trevor surprised themselves by not finding the planning stressful and even set up the room décor the day before, giving them plenty of time to ensure it was perfect.
Nicole found her perfect gown in Pronuptia Bridal, choosing the first dress she tried on even though Nicole looked elsewhere and tried on different dresses, none compared to the first one and how it made it her feel. Picking out a similar dress in a magazine and showing her mum, who agreed that it was stunning, Nicole was over the moon with her mum’s reaction when she tried on the dress, solidifying her decision that this was “the one”.
The flower girl dress for Lily Semple was similar to Nicole’s dress and was beyond beautiful, they found it in WED2B in Belfast. Bridesmaid dresses were from Maya Deluxe Online, along with a stunning matching mink suit from Skopes. Friends and Maid of Honours Ashling Logan and Haley Swaffield along with Bridesmaids Megan McMullan, Melissa Sloan and Natalie McComb all looked absolutely glowing and brimming with happiness in their outfits.
Trevor and his groomsmen Graeme Quinn, Steven Magowan and Adam Boyd along with Page Boys Harry Semple and Mason Patton found their exquisite suits in Freddie Hatchets, Belfast.
The wedding day went perfectly, the ceremony was held in the Rosspark Pavilion and led by their minister Stephen Thompson. Their 105 guests were able to enjoy some music provided by Aimee Thompson during the ceremony before heading into the garden and enjoying some drinks and nibbles in the sunshine while the newly married couple had some photos taken in the stunning grounds. Having their speeches before the meal ensured that everyone was able to relax and enjoy their meal, after which the happy couple cut into their amazing cake. Moving back into the garden lounge the guests were able to play on the casino tables and even had personalised money to use, this proved to be a big hit. The evening entertainment provided by their band The Collective had the dancefloor filled for the rest of the night, after the first dance to ‘Let’s go home together’ by Tom Greenan and Ella Henderson.
With saving some money on some parts of the wedding Nicole and Trevor were able to add some extras such as a balloon arch and beer and prosecco on arrival with sparklers for the evening reception, all while still sticking to their budget. A photobooth was also brought for the evening reception which provided a lot of laughs and also ensured they were able to get more photos with their guests.
Nicole and Trevor both said their day was amazing with no incidents and seemed too good to be true. A highlight for them was described by Nicole as “seeing Trevor at the altar, he looked so handsome and happy, it immediately calmed me and I was over the moon to be standing by his side as his wife” Trevor said his highlight was “sitting down at the top table with my new wife. It was our first meal as the new Mr & Mrs Agnew”.
They both said they wouldn’t do anything differently, in fact they said “honestly, I can say neither of us would change a thing about our wedding or do anything differently. We ran about an hour late from the beginning of dinner but our day still went so smoothly and perfectly we couldn’t actually believe it. We didn’t feel stressed and once the nerves disappeared when we met at the altar, we really did enjoy every moment of our wedding. A day we will treasure forever”
Before heading off on honeymoon to the same place they had their first holiday and Trevor told Nicole that he would make her his wife one day, only this time upgrading to 5 star and enjoying some much needed R&R in Palma Nova, Majorca they gave this advice to newly engaged couples planning their day; “Don’t stress too much on the little things, it really will all come together. We also agreed before the big day that if anything was to go wrong or a situation occurred then we were going to ignore it and enjoy our day, fortunately our day went extremely smoothly. It will be the most expensive party you ever throw but it is worth every moment if you just enjoy it and go with the flow”.
Nicole finished by saying “married life is going brilliantly, myself and Trevor already lived together before the wedding so not much has changed except my last name. We had the best day ever and even though we may be biased we have to say the best wedding we ever attended!”
