A Rustic Reception

It was a very modern beginning for this couple’s love story when they met online.

Morgan McGuigan a manager of a coffee shop and Malcolm Watterson an ERP developer met for the first time ‘in real life’ on their first date at 55 Degrees North in Portstewart.

The couple got engaged in a New York hotel in January 2018 where bride to be Morgan was surprised with roses, chocolates, champagne and a beautiful diamond ring from Mason’s in Coleraine.
“The ring was exactly what I wanted a single diamond with a platinum band.”

Morgan chose her dress from Marie Me in Randalstown. The beautiful A line dress with lace details caught her eye straight away.
“It was the first dress I tried on and fell in love with it,” she said.

The couple kept it small and intimate with their wedding party having just one bridesmaid, Morgan’s sister Jessica McGuigan and Malcolm’s best friend Robin Patton as best man.
Jessica wore a beautiful dress from Creative Ideas in Cookstown whilst Malcolm and Robin looked stylish in suits from Red also in Cookstown.

90 guests were there to see Morgan and Malcolm tie the knot at Castledawson Presbyterian Church on the 1st August 2019.

The guests later travelled to the picturesque Orange Tree House in Greyabbey for the couple’s wedding reception.
“The venue was quite rustic and the dresses and colours were picked to fit in round that.” Morgan told us.
Lucy O’Neill of Lucy’s Loft provided a fitting cake decorated with white roses and gypsophila.

Special features at the reception included a doughnut wall and a sweetie table.
After dinner the couple danced together for the first time as husband and wife to Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love.’

The bride and groom loved having their family and friends together for a big celebration and would not have changed anything about their day.
When asked what advice they would offer to other couples planning their own big day they advised, “Just enjoy it and try not to stress.”

A relaxing honeymoon in Florida finished off the wedding celebrations and the couple are enjoying married life together.
