Our Winter Wedding
Mila and Paul’s winter wedding was the perfect opportunity to bring friends and family together from across the globe.
Paul from Ballybofey and Mila originally from the Philippines but living in the UK, were introduced by a mutual friend in 2017. The two hit it off and a proposal followed in late 2018.
The hot tub by the river in the Thermal Village at the Galgorm was the perfect location for Paul to pop the question. The couple set their wedding date for exactly one year later!
The happy couple were married on 7th November 2019 in Willowfield Church in Belfast.
Mila wore a beautiful lace and satin A line dress with a fur bolero from Wed2B in Belfast.
“I went looking for my wedding dress one day after the proposal,” Mila told us, “I was supposed to try on 3 dresses but as soon as I put the first one I fell in love with it and bought it straight away.”
Jewel tones featured throughout the wedding, the perfect palette for a winter event. The bridesmaids looked stunning in emerald green fit and flare dresses with elbow length sleeves from Pure Boutique in Letterkenny. The bride’s cascading bouquet containing ruby coloured flowers completed the look.
The bridal party included Mila’s good friend Nelyn, Paul’s sister Alison and his niece Kelsey.
Paul and his three groomsmen; brother in law Paul and best friends Ernie and Richard all looked smart in suits from Red suit hire in Belfast
After dodging a few rain showers to get some photos taken, Paul and Mila were joined by their 180 guests for their reception in the Seagoe Hotel, Portadown where Paul is the general manager.
A two piece band met the guests on arrival to the hotel and a soloist was on hand to entertain during the meal.
For Mila having their friends and family there was the highlight of the day, “ The best part of the day was the excitement of being able to see our friends and family with some having travelled a long distance,” she said.
The guests were treated to a special bespoke first dance, a merengue routine to ‘I Will be Here’ by Gary Valenciano.
Reflecting on the build up and the day itself the couple say they wouldn’t change a thing, “It all went according to plan.”
They would advise newly engaged couples to be prepared for some inevitable late nights in the run up to the big day no matter how organised you may be.
The newlyweds completed their wedding celebrations with a honeymoon to the Philippines and Singapore.
Married life so far has been great, “You can share every aspect of your life with the person you love. It’s also exciting knowing that you have the support of your husband or wife in everything you do,” they told us.
