A Wonderful World
Although Leah and Christopher are both from Belfast, they first met at university in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2011. Eight years later, with a two year round the world trip in between, they married in Donegal.
Keen traveller Christopher chose a trip to Munich as the perfect opportunity to propose to his bride-to-be.
“We had been together for 7 years when he proposed. It was beautiful and I was really taken by surprise,” said Leah.
It was on her first trip to a bridal boutique that Leah found her dream wedding dress. After trying on a few different styles at Perfect Day Bridal in Lurgan, she found the perfect gown.
“They were the nicest staff and I fell in love with my wedding dress. I knew it was the one!” the bride told us.
Leah was so impressed with Perfect Day’s range of dresses that she purchased her bridesmaids’ dresses here too. The bride chose her three close friends to be part of the bridal party. Maid of honour Rose was joined by the two bridesmaids Lauren and Kerry.
Christopher chose stylish blue suits for himself and the groomsmen. The groom’s party included best man, Peter, Groomsmen Luc and Stuart and ushers Matthew and Matthew.
The wedding ceremony took place on 1st August 2019 in St Patrick’s church in Donegal town with 135 guests in attendance.
The guests then travelled to the magnificent and secluded Lough Eske Castle for a beautiful wedding reception.
The guests were met with a photo wall on arrival showcasing pictures of the bride and groom. They were then seated at their tables named after destinations the couple had visited on their tour of the world.
Highlights of the reception included a wedding cake made entirely from cheese and the couple’s first dance to Bob Marley’s ‘Is this Love’.
“It was the best day of our lives. It couldn’t have gone better. The sun was shining and everyone had the best day,” said Leah.
After a night of dancing and tequila the couple rounded up their guests once more for a barbecue next day at the bride’s family’s holiday home in nearby Rossnowlagh.
Reflecting on their wedding day, the couple agreed that the best part was having all the people who are most important to them together.
Leah loved the whole planning process. “I loved dealing with all of the suppliers and putting the special touches on the big day. I want to do it all again!” she said.
She found the whole experience to be relatively stress free and enjoyed it all.
The newlyweds would offer this advice to any couples who are currently planning their wedding day, “Enjoy every minute of the planning and preparation. Your wedding day is truly the best day of your life so enjoy each and every second.”
After all the celebrations Leah and Christopher enjoyed a honeymoon in Miami and Mexico and are now enjoying married life together.
