Kay and Colin chose February for their wedding day which celebrated both their Tyrone and Cork connections.
Kay and Colin first met in Dublin during the All Ireland Final weekend. Colin a Cork man struck lucky as Cork won the final, and he found a lovely new lady! Over the next few years the couple had a long distance relationship as Colin lived in Dublin and Kay in Belfast, but in December 2014 Colin made their relationship more future-proof.
“With a token ring, Colin proposed down by the lake outside Castle Leslie in County Monaghan. We later chose my gold solitaire engagement ring in the town,” explained Kay.
With a desire to keep their day unfussy and elegant, Kay started planning with plenty of to-do lists and research and they soon had the major decisions made and booked.
Kay visited Bride at Logan’s in Cloughmills for her wedding gown and with the help of Dorothy chose a beautiful 3/4 sleeve gown embellished with floral motifs, which suited their classic style perfectly. Her hair was given a timeless look and she fashioned a striking red lip and pretty pearl earrings.
“Our wedding day was great. It was really relaxed and fun. I think the timing of the wedding was good for our guests as most people had a quiet January and were ready for a party and celebration in February!! The only slight disappointment we had was that the rain came on when we were in Carlingford for the photos. As Colin is from the coast in West Cork we wanted some photos at Carlingford Bay. The Irish weather put a stop to that! However, we got some great photos in PJ O’Hare’s pub in Carlingford having a pint of the black stuff!” added Kay.
Following their stunning day of celebration, Kay and Colin headed to Cuba for a relaxing couple of weeks. “We had a great time which combined relaxing at a beautiful resort in Varadero, followed by spending time exploring Havana and sampling some of the best Cuban rum and cocktails!” said Kay.
