Love Island
Jayne and Peter enjoyed their relaxed and chilled out reception at the stunning Lusty Beg Island with a ‘sparkler’ send off.
Despite a few hiccups in the run up to the big day, the wedding of teacher Jayne and golf course manager Peter ran smoothly from start to finish.
Jayne and Peter found their perfect match online back in 2017. “We enjoyed spending time together and going on adventures and that’s never changed!” Jayne tells us. It was in the midst of one of their adventures to Donegal that Peter surprised Jayne with a proposal. “We went away to Donegal for a few days to celebrate New Years’ like we have done each year since we met. We stopped off at Keadue beach on the way home on New Year’s Day and Pete got down on one knee!” Jayne was delighted with the platinum solitaire ring Peter had chosen from Lunn’s.
Jayne loved her relaxed dress shopping experience at Perfect Day in Lurgan. With her mum on hand to give advice and some prosecco to add to the fun, Jayne chose her dream gown after trying on just three other gowns. The bride also chose her bridesmaids’ dresses in Perfect Day.
Peter and his three groomsmen were suitably attired by SD Kells in Portadown with waistcoats purchased at Suits Direct in Banbridge.
The countdown to the big day was not without its challenges. The couple had to contend with postponements due to covid and illnesses of important people. Jayne explains, “Our minister had surgery and sadly couldn’t take our service thankfully the curate stepped in and saved the day! My mum ended up in hospital two days before the wedding and one of my bridesmaids and best friend was unable to be with us on the day.”
The big day finally arrived on 1st July 2021 and Jayne and Peter were married in Seagoe Parish Church in front of just over one hundred guests. “We found it strange seeing everyone wearing masks including the bridal party in church!”
After the marriage ceremony the newlyweds and their guests made their way to Lusty Beg Island for a chilled out, outdoor summer barbecue.” It suited the time of year and we both wanted a very relaxed, fun day!” said Jayne. Before the festivities the happy couple posed for photos with photographer Trevor Lucy. “We got some special pictures after the service with my sister who has special needs and is in a care home,” said Jayne.
The wedding guests enjoyed music by The Dirtbirds and were treated to a visit from Taylor’s Ice Cream Truck. The evening entertainment came from Enniskillen based Embrace Social and the newlyweds danced together to Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars. The evening was completed with a sparkler send off by the guests. “We had a wonderfully relaxed, chilled out day and the weather was with us all day,” Peter told us.
The next morning after enjoying the spa at Lusty Beg, Jayne and Peter set off to Downings in Donegal for a 5 night stay.
Looking back on the day, Peter was particularly glad that there were no Covid related issues for those celebrating with them. Jayne’s most memorable moment was walking down the aisle with her father and she loved seeing all the plans and special details come together as her guests enjoyed the day. Neither the bride nor the groom would change a single aspect of the day and were so glad to finally marry after all the postponements.
For other couples currently planning their own special day, Jayne and Peter would recommend choosing your suppliers with care especially in these times when plans can change so quickly. Also enjoy the day itself as it goes by so fast, but you can keep the buzz alive by asking friends to share their photos in the days that follow.
