A RUSTIC THEMED WEDDING AT THE STUNNING TEMPLE MORE GOLF CLUB WASTHE SETTING FOR DENISE & JONNY’S WEDDING RECEPTION
Like many couples, Denise and Jonny Peacocke were friends for many years before their relationship turned romantic. But in 2013, after losing touch for a few years, they met on a night out and five years later they became husband and wife. They tied the knot in April 2018 after Denise turned the tables and asked Jonny to marry her in June 2016. “Jonny had been working away in Bristol for a while and had come home for the weekend. We were out in our local bar watching the Northern Ireland v Wales football match and I actually asked him, using a friend’s wedding ring.” With Jonny saying yes, the pair then went to Warren James in Lisburn a week later to pick out Denise’s engagement ring – a single solitaire diamond on a white gold band. Denise then turned her focus to choosing her dress. “I got my dress from Naomi’s of Ballynahinch. I decided to go there as it was local and I had heard very good reviews about them. I went along with my bridesmaids and found my perfect dress after having tried on around six different dresses.” Denise chose a stunning lace covered column dress, with cascading ruffles at the back, topped off with a floor-length veil. “I found the whole experience brilliant from start to finish. Angela and Karen in Naomi’s of Ballynahich were very helpful and had lots of tips and tricks to share.” She found the experience so good, Denise returned to Naomi’s of Ballynahich for her bridesmaid dresses which were lilac floor-length gowns with lace detail at the sleeves and neckline. “I had four bridesmaids. My chief bridesmaid was my closest friend Amelia Fowles. She was joined by my sister Andrea Gillespie, and Jonny’s two sisters Leanne and Nicola Peacocke.
Jonny had a best man, Paul Wilson and a groomsman, Mervyn Patterson, as well as two ushers, Eric Lyons and Trevor Murphy. They got their men’s suits from Kelvin Graham Menswear in Ballynahinch.” Denise then worked on the theme: “We went for a bit of a rustic theme because it seemed a bit different and we liked the look. Our cake stand was made from wood; we had a wooden easel greeting our guests and all the stationery was made from recycled paper and card. We also had the guest’s place names laser cut from wood which they were able to take home with them. “We really enjoyed all the planning, to be honest – all the trips for fittings, and the cake sampling was also extremely enjoyable. But the most stressful part was doing the seating plan!”As for the budget? “We didn’t stick to it … but does any bride?!” The overspend didn’t matter as 70 guests joined Denise and Jonny at the Temple Golf & Country Club in Boardmills, Lisburn, where they exchanged vows and celebrated with their closest family and friends. “On the day, everything went perfect. We both had a brilliant day, and laughed from start to finish. The staff of the Temple Golf Club made all our guests feel very welcome and they honestly couldn’t have been more helpful. “I really loved the craic getting ready with the girls in the morning, and walking down the aisle was a special moment. Jonny says the ceremony was special highlight, as well as getting the photos taken at Rowallane Gardens in Saintfield.” And to top off their ‘perfect day’, they danced their first dance to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”, before “nipping across to Portugal for a mini-moon.”
