A Very Merry Wedding
Ryan from Ballymoney chose a literary themed proposal when he popped the question to teacher Charlotte.
He found the perfect setting in the library at Lough Erne Resort where he had whisked Charlotte off to for a romantic birthday treat.
With a bit of help from the staff at the resort everything went to plan.
Charlotte was delighted with the proposal and her beautiful princess platinum engagement ring from Bond’s of Coleraine.
Charlotte had a specific dress in mind for her big day and located it in Ultimate Dresses in Dungiven.
“This was the only store in Northern Ireland that was selling it. When I tried on the dress I hated it,” she said.
The staff encouraged her to try on a few more dresses so it wasn’t a wasted journey. “I fell in love with the fourth dress I tried and didn’t even try anymore on.”
Charlotte’s bridal party was made up of her three sisters, Chantelle, Courtney and Olivia and her two little nieces Anabelle and Moriah.
She chose her bridesmaids’ and flowergirls’ dresses at Wedded Bliss in Portglenone.
“Two of my sisters were breastfeeding at the time of my wedding so we needed to get a dress they both felt comfortable in,” said Charlotte.
The flowergirls’ dresses were accessorised with pretty glitter wraps knitted by the groom’s aunt.
The groom’s party was suitably kitted out by Tweedy Acheson of Coleraine.
Their outfits even included matching polka dot socks.
The groomsmen were Ryan’s brother Jack, his friend Warren and Charlotte’s brother in law Graham.
Nephews Isaac, Jude and Jacob took on the role of pageboys.
The wedding date was set for 22nd December 2018.
The ceremony took place in Ballymoney Church of God where the couple had met for the first time.
It was touch and go whether the groom’s father would make the ceremony as he had taken ill in the months leading up to the celebration.
Thankfully he got out of the hospital a few days before the wedding and could enjoy the day with his family.
The groomsman Warren and bridesmaid Olivia sang at the wedding service as did the oldest flowergirl and pageboy.
The church was decorated with a vintage wooden theme. “I have always liked the minimalistic look,” said Charlotte.
After the ceremony the 120 guests were surprised with an ice cream van outside the church.
An enjoyable reception followed at the Rosspark Hotel in Kells.
The couple danced together for the first time as Warren, the groomsman, sang God’s Plan.
The second song of the night included a choreographed dance by the whole bridal party.
Of course no christmastime wedding would be complete without a visit from Santa himself!
When asked what the best part of their day was, the bride in groom were in agreement, “Spending the day with all our close family and friends.”
If Charlotte were to do it all again she would definitely stress less over all the preparations, “I was the only person who knew if something wasn’t quite right. Everyone said it was a lovely wedding,” she said.
After all was done and dusted Charlotte and Ryan enjoyed an amazing honeymoon, spending two nights in New York City followed by a luxurious Carribbean cruise.
Married life for the newly weds is perfect, Charlotte told us, “We have just got ourselves a little puppy.”
