True Love Tuesday: Adrienne & Alan

A very good afternoon to you all, this glorious Spring weather has us all in a terrific mood! Our wedding today comes from Lusty Beg Island, which we can only begin to imagine is looking idyllic today.

Adrienne and Alan met through business and on a joint visit to the Brooklodge Wells & Spa in Wicklow, and a long car journey they both realised there definitely was a spark between them! “We really took it seriously about three months later during a formal at Cultra Yacht Club. Alan took me to the floor to dance and was the most fantastic dancer!” said Adrienne.

The couple got engaged in Paris, beside the waterfalls that overlook the Eiffel Tower. “Alan got down on one knee and I thought seriously what are you doing! It was raining. My ring was designed by Alan and made by Rudolph Heltzel from Kilkenny. It is a Tourmaline, the American equivalent to my birth stone, an Opal and is surrounded by diamonds with a thick gold band as I didn’t want a wedding band,” added Adrienne.

The couple soon chose Lusty Beg after Alan suggested it as the perfect place to throw their relaxed wedding day. They wanted a party atmosphere for their guests, with a touch of Mamma Mia. “We wanted one big relaxed party for all our family and friends. We didn’t want a traditional menu so liaised with the venue and had an anti pasta platter served on boards with black slate plates then chicken Piri Piri and rare beef salad, lemon posset and instead of a traditional cake, a cheese table,” explained Adrienne.

Adrienne turned to local designer, Una Rodden to make her perfect wedding dress after visiting a number of boutiques with no luck. “Una let me try on a dress she had previously made and that was the decision made! Within about 20 minutes I chose a different fabric and colour. She was fantastic through the whole process and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough,” she said.

“The day was fantastic. The fact that the sun shone and it was 22 degrees meaning we could get married outside on the deck with all our guests watching was amazing!” added Adrienne.
