Good afternoon, Naomi and Paul’s wedding was one of those days that we wish we were guests at! With not one, but two wedding gowns, a magical horse and carriage entrance, fire eaters, fireworks and outdoor entertainment their guests had one fun packed day at Clandeboye Courtyard. Thanks to Amie McAllister Photography for the brilliant photos from the day.
The couple originally met online and after getting engaged they knew immediately knew they didn’t want a traditional type wedding with a hotel reception and instead decided to hold their wedding at the Clandeboye Courtyard within Clandeboye Estate. The day was given a woodland theme with a fun and relaxed atmosphere, including lawn games such as a homemade horseshoe hoopla, giant Jenga and boules, after the ceremony.
Naomi arrived in a horse and carriage with her brother, Andrew, who walked her down the aisle whilst playing an acoustic version of ‘Here Comes The Bride.’ Rather than have a hymn during the ceremony, they decided on ‘It’s All About You’ by McFly and encouraged their guests to joy in. As the ceremony finished their guests formed a Guard of Honour and waved homemade flags.
Whilst Naomi and Paul headed to Bangor for their official wedding photographs at meaningful locations around the town and marina, the guests enjoyed the games and were kept entertained with music from Paul’s friends, and were served afternoon tea.
Dinner was banquet style and sharing platters which encouraged their guests to talk to one another, and rather than serving wine they chose large Kilner jars of Pimms, again to encourage people to muck in! The rustic woodland theme was evident on the tables with themed favours and decor of wooden runners and jam jars filled with flowers that Naomi’s Mum had grown.
At 9pm guests were served fish and chips and were entertained outside with sparklers and fire eaters, and at 11pm they enjoyed Smores over the fire pit and a firework display. Naomi then changed into her short wedding dress and danced the night away with their guests!
“Our day was fantastic and I would advise couples to make sure their wedding is how they want it – you’ll only do it once and it’s your day. Don’t let convention dictate what you should do, remember, it’s all about you!” said Naomi.
