Opening the door at her student home in October 2010 Gayle Allen didn’t realise she had
opened the door to her happy ever after. While finishing her PGCE in Liverpool, Gayle
shared a house coincidentally with an old school friend of Peter’s. Peter was working in
Liverpool at the same time when his friend asked him round to their house for drinks.
The proposal took place in “The Art School” where after enjoying a lovely meal together
Peter asked that all important question “So what about it?” the stunning sapphire and
diamond engagement ring had been chosen together a few months prior while on a trip to
Manchester.
The wedding took place on 28th October 2021 in the most tranquil of surroundings at Lough
Erne Resort in Enniskillen, it was that tranquil and laid back that Peter even managed a
round of golf before the wedding although this did leave him less than an hour to get ready.
Deciding on a theme for the wedding Gayle and Peter wanted something they could
incorporate throughout their day and also bring some fun with a bit of Harry Potter on the
cake topper and ring box. The purple theme being carried through the bridesmaid dresses,
flowers and decorations sealed the dream for their winter wedding.
After not being able to see so many of their friends and family due to Covid it was so lovely
to be able to have 91 of them all together, “we were able to catch up with them all and
really enjoy our special day”.
Sticking to their budget didn’t mean that any corners were cut, guests enjoyed an ice cream
truck and a string quartet at a drinks reception. The day was made even more perfect when
a rainbow appeared especially for a rainbow mad bride. The day went swimmingly even
though the Best Man Mark forgot his shirt only realising an hour before the wedding,
thankfully not causing too much of a worry. With all of the excitement before the ceremony
Peter was just so glad to be at the altar and marrying the love of his life that he was saying I
do before the vows had even finished.
Gayle and Peter had such an amazing day chatting with their guests, enjoying having their
photos taken and relaxing after the stress of having to rearrange the wedding, they said it
was completely worth the wait. Finishing their day off having their first dance to Shut up
and dance with me, wanting something fun to dance to, they even rehearsed a dance
routine at least 50 times especially for their first dance, they were so happy it went without
a hitch.
The bride’s dress was designed by Justin Alexander and bought from Orchid Bridal in
Portadown. Having a rough idea of what she wanted and trying on dresses in Liverpool
before moving home to NI certainly helped. Bridesmaid dresses were bought online for the
four bridesmaids who were all friends of the bride, although one bridesmaid couldn’t make
the wedding due to her brother getting married on the same day after both couples had to
reschedule their original dates.
Groomsmen suits were bought from Nineteen 83 in Omagh for Peter and his three
groomsmen including brother Mark and two friends.
What advice would you give to other couples? Enjoy it all, take 5 minutes to yourselves
during the day to relax.
