Good afternoon brides-to-be! We hope you are all getting to enjoy the beautiful September sunshine. Today we’re delighted to share the fabulous and very glamorous wedding of Erin and Anthony. The couple were celebrated their marriage on 30th December last year in the opulent surroundings of Jacksons Hotel Ballybofey with Michael McKay Photography capturing each and every sparkly detail.
“Anthony and I first met in Walsh’s Hotel in Maghera on a Sunday night out. We were introduced by my cousin Conor. Conor was actually going out with Anthony’s sister, and now they are getting married too! The proposal was such a surprise, I had absolutely no idea. Anthony picked the ring himself as he knew I had always wanted him to do. On Sunday 2nd September 2012 we went for a walk around Ramore Head, it was a beautiful day with the most gorgeous blue sky, so Anthony told me to stand for a photo, and as I turned round there he was down on one knee,” explained Erin.
Erin and Anthony were very relaxed when it came to planning their perfect wedding as Erin was adamant she was going to enjoy the process and not get stressed.
“My mantra for planning the wedding was that if by the end of the day Anthony and I were married then we had had the perfect day, everything else on top of that was an added extra! I was very laid back about the whole thing, my sisters would say too laid back but I enjoyed it all and our day could not have been anymore perfect. We always knew that we wanted to get married in the winter and between Christmas and New Year if we could as it is such a special family time of year and family means everything to both of us,” added Erin.
On her wedding day Erin wore a stunning silk sheath dress by David Fielden.
“I visited Castle Couture in Galgorm with the idea of trying on a dress I had liked in a magazine. Marie chose a different option for me to try and that was it, I was sold! Marie has a great knowledge of what suits brides and she was able to point out my dress within a few minutes, which was remarkable considering the vast range of stunning dresses they stock! I never visited another bridal shop that had as many beautiful dresses with such exclusive designers and would recommend them to anyone and everyone who asks!” said Erin.
Going with a glamorous black and white theme Erin struggled to find her perfect bridesmaids dresses until her mum offered to make them.
“There were a few DIY touches including invitations, mass booklets and the biggest tasks of them all: the bridesmaid dresses and brooch bouquets for me, my bridesmaids and flower girls. My mum, my godmother and myself did a course on how to make brooch bouquets in Dublin as I knew I wanted to have complete control on how they looked and now myself and now we all have a little something to keep, and I’m so glad I did the course,” added Erin.
Their day was perfect, although Erin how was convinced she wouldn’t be able to sleep the night before, didn’t set her alarm clock and ended up sleeping in!
“The highlight for both of us was our wedding mass, it was such a beautiful ceremony and we remember every second of it and live in the hope that we never forget it. Another extremely fond memory for me is that my Granda drove me and my dad to the wedding ceremony,” said Erin.
