Good evening! Are you all ready for a long weekend?
Most years Easter is when we see weddings crank up a gear, so we will be really excited to see our Facebook feed filled with gorgeous days – we hope the weather stays nice for you all!
Tonight we’re sharing the story of Emma and Christopher who chose a winter wedding at Brownlow House in Lurgan. Thanks to Marie Allen Photography from Portadown for sharing their lovely wedding photos with us. We adore Emma’s quirky short dress, and just wait until you see her funky wedding booties.
Emma and Christopher went to the same school but actually officially met on Plenty of Fish! Christopher chose the dramatic backdrop of the Giants Causeway to pop with question with a 3.8ct platinum cluster engagement ring which he had custom designed.
Emma was keen to keep her wedding day filled with local suppliers and with a little help from Pinterest, bridal fayres and of course, a bridal magazine she planned a stunning vintage day that was filled with touches of hessian and lace.
With a fair idea of what she wanted her dress to look like, Emma went to Shirley Moorhead of Fairytale Designs. “Shirley had been recommended to me by my bridesmaid Gail and I was able to take bits I had seen from here and there and marry it all together. She even added the lace from my dress to my shoes and headpiece so it all blended well together. It ended up that Shirley also made my mum’s outfit, as well as Christopher’s Mum and Nanny’s outfits,” explained Emma.
“The day went by in a flash, no near disasters that I am aware of! It was a brilliant day and the team at Brownlow House were fantastic. I was worried about snow a few days before the wedding but thankfully it stayed away, there was a small skimming of snow still at my house from the day before which made for nice photos. Honestly couldn’t pick out just one highlight, it was all wonderful!” added Emma.
Emma’s Advice
“Don’t stress, you can organise a wedding in little time if you really want to. There were a good few months that I had nothing to do as everything was booked but I suppose it depends how organised you are. Enjoy the build up, and your hen/stag.
And finally, don’t go overboard, in the end it’s one day and a piece of paper, so long as your family and friends are there that’s the main thing.”
