Good evening brides-to-be!
If this is your first visit to our blog we’re guessing you’ve got yourself a fiancé over Valentine’s weekend – a huge congratulations from us!
Tonight we’re sharing the gorgeous Christmas wedding of Danielle and Alfie who were married just before the big day on December, 22nd at Finvoy Presbyterian Church, with following reception at Corick House Hotel. Thanks to photographer, Ciaran O’Neill from Lurgan for sharing their photos with us.
Danielle and Alfie had know each other for years through the Young Farmers society, but met at a friends house party in 2014 and began dating shortly after.
“We did everything a little back to front! At the end of July 2015 we were walking on the White Rocks beach in Portrush and we began to talk about getting married. I said I would like a Christmas wedding, on my late Dad’s Birthday and we sort of joked about why wait a year?” said Danielle.
The couple began looking at venues and soon their wedding was booked for 22nd December 2015!
Danielle knew instantly of a few suppliers she had to have on their big day, including Jil from The Stables Flower Company. With the help of plenty of Googling and Facebook searches she had their day planned easily.
“My dress and bridesmaids were slightly more difficult, with only four months until the wedding, my dress choice and designer was limited due to being able to get the dress on time. I took the first week of September and travelled across the country trying on beautiful dresses and on the Saturday at my last appointment in Logan’s Fashions of Cloughmills I chose the dress! It wasn’t what I had thought in my head at all…I wanted lace, fitted and a lace veil, my choice was simple, with a big skirt, strapless and no lace at all!” added Danielle.
Their day was filled with tones of lavender and lilac, which were off set with rustic styled decorative pieces.
“A fabulous lady and friend Mary McCurdy helped me achieve my perfect look. We made all the invitations, order of service, decorations and table plans ourselves. It was hard work and long hours, but I loved the final product. Mary is amazing lady and I cannot thank her enough for her help, advice and hard work. We named each table after Alfie’s farms field’s and so each table name was in a pot of fresh grass with a flag with the name on it. Mary was out digging up grass in her own field for the pots at one stage!” explained Danielle.
“Our wedding day was amazing, we both loved every minute and everything went really well….just wish it could have gone on and on! Probably one of the funniest moments was when the best man forgot what to do when asked for the rings. Alfie’s brother, Philip was in a day dream and when asked for the rings, responded, ‘Ermm am I supposed to speak now or something?’” added Danielle.
Danielle and Alfie headed to Iceland on their mini moon and plan on a big honeymoon later in the year once their house build is complete.
