Good evening lovely ladies! Hasn’t the weather been fabulous? We are certainly being spoilt with great wedding weather this past few weeks. Tonight we’re sharing the wedding of Claire and Colin, with photography by Simon O’Neill from Ciaran O’Neill Photography in Lurgan. Claire and Colin were the lucky winners of our wedding photography package from Ciaran O’Neill in Issue 46 and we’re delighted to share their elegant day.
Claire and Colin first met at mutual friends wedding on the dance floor. The couple quickly got chatting and had their first date the following day, a trip to the zoo! “After our visit to the zoo we went for something to eat and got totally soaked on the walk back to my car! We then discovered my car was locked in the car park in Belfast so my sister had to pick me up as Colin was getting the train. We were able to laugh about this and that’s when we knew there would be a second date!” said Claire.
Of course there was a second date and six months later during a holiday in New York Colin popped the question right in the middle of Central Park in New York! Shortly after their return home the couple had their date set for April 24th 2015, giving them sixteen months to plan their day.
With a calm approach to their day the couple didn’t choose a particular theme, preferring to choose items they liked and that represented them as a couple. Claire found her bridal gown at Perfect Day in Lurgan after seeing it on their website. Her bridesmaids wore dark peach gowns, which perfectly complimented their colouring, whilst Colin and his groomsmen were suitably suited in navy modern suits.
“The day was amazing from start to finish. We kept ourselves very chilled and we just enjoyed it! It went so quickly, the food was gorgeous, the dance floor was full the whole night and we got to spend time with our family and friends so you can’t ask for too much more! One funny moment that stands out was during the ceremony, Colin had forgotten to bring a silver coin for the ceremony and the only coin he had was a 20p. It was funny because this was supposed to represent that he was giving me all that he had in the world. The priest even commented that grooms can usually stretch to 50p!” added Claire.
