Christmas is a special time of the year for everyone but even more so for Catherine and Conan O’Neill who are just about to celebrate their first wedding anniversary! We are sharing with you how you can incorporate this special time of the year into your special day, this is how Catherine and Conan did exactly that…
Catherine and Conan had know each other for most of their lives as they both grew up in a small town and eventually got together after a night out in a local nightclub. After dating for four years Catherine and Conan shared a holiday to New York, on one of the days Conan insisted that they went for a walk through a very snowy, icy Central Park. After much persuasion, Catherine agreed to go Conan then proposed on Gapstow Bridge in the park. Catherine was shocked and delighted, unbeknown to Catherine Conan had already asked Caterines’s dad for his permission. They then picked the ring together in a jewellers on 5th Avenue!
Catherine and Conan decided that they would get married in December 2015, Catherine says’ “I absolutely love Christmas and it seemed the perfect time of the year for us to get married” The Christmas theme was incorporated though the wedding favours, room décor, style of bridesmaids dresses and various ‘finishing touches’.
Catherine chose her wedding dress in ‘Creative ideas’, Armagh and had her fur shrug handmade by Shauna Fay her bridesmaids Laura and Tanya also had their dresses and accessories made by Shauna.
Conan and his brother Daniel and friend Robbie who made up the grooms party chose their navy blue suits in Red groomswear, Belfast. Catherine who is a teacher enjoyed organising and planning the wedding especially when she could see all the elements coming together at the end. The couple married in Scared Heart Chruch, Killowen and travelled by fire engine an old style Merryweather fire engine which had been arranged by Conans Father (Conan is a fireman!) to Ballymascanlon Hotel for their reception along with 200 guests.
The couple and their guests were treated to some surprise entertainment in the form of a singing chef, ‘Cameoflage’ this was a surprise that Conan’s parents had arranged. After dinner and speeches Catherine and Conan had their first dance as huband and wife to the very popular ‘The One’ by Kodaline. Catherine’s tips to future brides & grooms would be ‘Enjoy it! (Your wedding day) It all goes too fast!’
Catherine and Conan honeymooned in Las Vegas, Orlando and New York!
