‘Old Friends New Love’
A FAMILY CELEBRATION AT THE LOUGH ERNE RESORT FOLLOWED THE WEDDING
OF ADELE AND CHRISTOPHER EWING.
Adele Carson had to go halfway round the world before realising that the man of her dreams was actually Christopher Ewing, an old friend from Drumglass High School! ‘We were friends for years before getting closer,’ said Adele, 25, a beauty therapist from Castlecaulfield. ‘I went to Australia to travel and when I was there I realised how much I liked him. When I came home we ended up together.’
The couple were together for six years before their wedding in Castlecaulfield Presbyterian Church on November 9th 2018. Christopher, 26, a lorry driver from Argory, Killyman, popped the question on 6th September 2017 in the kitchen of the couple’s home with their two little boys as witnesses! Adele’s ring, a pear cut diamond surrounded by smaller diamonds, is from Lunn’s Jewellers, Belfast. She bought her dress from Creative Ideas in Cookstown. ‘It is an Australian design and because it was from a trunk show, I had only two days to decide if I wanted it or otherwise I would not have had the chance to chance to buy it again as it was a 2019 collection,’ Adele said. ‘It was the second one I tried on, and I knew straight away it was my dress. I had an amazing experience with Creative Ideas.’ Adele’s veil was handmade and came from Milk and Honey in Fivemiletown, and her shoes were Ted Baker. Gorgeous flower girls Ruby and Mya looked wonderful in dresses from Monsoon, and shoes, tights and cardigans from Next. The four bridesmaids dresses were from She’s Fabulous in Garvagh. Looking fabulous indeed were Adele’s sisters, Olivia and Victoria, and Christopher’s sisters, Diane and Hannah.
The couple had a ‘great experience’ shopping for groomswear at Tom Morrow in Dungannon. ‘Ian, who we dealt with was just fantastic,’ said Adele. ‘When I told him what we wanted, he got it all and it was even better than I expected!’
Best man was Philip, Christopher’s childhood best friend. Groomsmen were Christopher’s brother Alan, his cousin Peter and friend Adam, who is engaged to Christopher’s sister Diane. The couple’s two sons were proud pageboys, looking like small replicas of their dad in outfits from Monsoon. Their jackets were Mayroyal, a Spanish brand, and their dapper dicky bows were handmade by D&G Bows.
Christopher and Adele said the Lough Erne Resort in Enniskillen, where the couple hosted their 160 guests after the church ceremony, had done everything they asked. ‘They took all the stress out of it for us,’ Adele said. ‘Nothing was a problem. I only had to ask and it was done.’ It made planning the reception and evening event the favourite part of preparation for Adele and Christopher’s big day. ‘The most stressful part was sorting the pageboys’ clothes,’ said Adele. ‘My boy Jack, aged five, was very picky in what he wanted to wear. We had 3/4 outfits bought and returned before he saw what he wanted. And all just to look like his daddy!’ The wedding didn’t have a theme, though there was a touch of vintage running through the day. Although it was November, the couple opted to have a Genoa Ice Cream Cart. ‘Yes, a little cold for November but the groom loves ice cream,’ laughed Adele. All went smoothly, although there was so much wind and rain when they emerged from the church as Mr and Mrs, the driver of their wedding car said a radio report suggested they might be in the midst of a tornado! Adele and Christopher’s first dance was to Kodaline’s ‘The One.’ The day went so well that the couple say they would not change a thing. For both, the highlight of their wedding day was ‘seeing each other at the end of the aisle and taking our vows together.’ They would advise anyone planning their wedding to make their choices and stick with them. Adele and Christopher had a minimoon in Paris and are looking forward to their honeymoon in June 2019.
