Good evening! So, you’ve recently became one half of an engaged couple and now the question on everyones lips is ‘When is the wedding?’ Lots the bride we meet at bridal fayres have let us know that choosing a special date is one of the first major (and difficult) decisions in the whole big wedding planning game! Today we’ve got some great advice to help you end up with the perfect date to say I Do.
The starting point to any wedding date discussion is to sit down with your other half, diary in hand and just simply work it out.
Tricky Timeframes
Often when planning many aspects of your day, couples have to choose if they want their head or heart to rule; do they want to be sensible and save for their absolute dream or will they let their heart rule and jump in quicker than the bank manager says is right! You should seriously consider the finance aspect of your day, especially if you are paying for it. If you plan to save consider having a 18 month or two year engagement.
Seasonally Speaking
Have you visions of a carefree summers day wedding? Or maybe a Christmas festive gathering is more your cup of tea. Don’t forget spring and autumn weddings, too! If you can narrow your date down to a season, that’s a good place to start.
Deciding the Date
Do you and your fiancé have a significant date, your anniversary, the day you first met, or shared your first kiss? Maybe one of these dates might be your choice, or you could come up with a new date, and make it your day.
Don’t Forget
Have you friends or family getting married the same year as you? If you will be taking part or attending the wedding, try to choose a date not too close – you want all your attention focused on your day, after all!
Save The Date
With a date in hand, it’s now time to start booking your ceremony, reception, photographer and all the other elements that will make your day awesome! If you’ve guests travelling long distances from over seas, consider having Save The Date cards made at this stage, here are some ideas we love:
