Shopping for your wedding gown is supposed to be one of the highlights of wedding planning, but we hear more and more brides stories about getting stressed and flustered! today we’re letting you in on some mistakes you could make if you didn’t know about them. Knowledge is power, as they say…
1. Bringing everyone and their dog!
Too many people along with you dress shopping will mean too many opinions, one sure fire way to get confused. Think about who you ask along and try to keep it under three people.
2. Sticking to one style
Yes, you might know what style you wear in everyday life but a wedding gown is completely different. Step outside the box and take advice from your bridal consultant.
3. Traipsing around too many shops
There’s no rule that says you must visit every bridal boutique within a 50 mile radius! Do you research and try to visit as few as possible, believe us you will just loose both petrol and your sanity!
4. Wearing the wrong footwear and underwear
It’s important you wear shoes to your appointments with similar height to those you’ll wear on your wedding day. And always wear underwear that you don’t mind being seen in, preferably nude in colour.
5. Not making decisions
Lots and lots of brides continue to hang out for ‘the one’ expecting to be bowled over with butterflies when they try on the perfect dress. Not everyone gets this feeling, and putting stress on yourself could make you go crazy! Remember you need to leave time for the dress to be ordered, delivered and for any alterations you might need. Don’t procrastinate.
6. Following the trends – if you’re not trend lead
A bride should always be the best version of herself (in our humble opinion!) so going for a very cutting edge, fashion forward wedding gown, when it is clearly not your style is not a sensible idea! Choose a dress you are completely comfortable with and that you are happy to look at everyday for a very long time – in your photographs, obviously!
7. Spending too much time online
You might just find your perfect wedding gown online- about one hundred times over! The best way to find your dream gown is by just getting out there and trying them on.
