Evening all! We hope you are all ready for the most romantic day of the year on Saturday!
Tonight we have such a great couple, Emma and Denver, who were married last September in Seskinore Presbyterian Church with a reception at the Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen. The beautiful day was captured byErica Irvine Photography from Fintona.
After meeting in a bar in Irvinestown during the Truck Festival in 2011 and after their relationship blossomed and a few holidays the couple headed to New York for Christmas 2012 where Denver popped the question.
“Before we left the airport unknown to me, Denver called my Dad to ask his permission. He didn’t answer so Denver left him a message which went along the lines of, ‘If I was to put a ring on this doll I assume it’s okay with you?!’ My Dad text him back later saying of course. In New York we visited the Rockafeller Centre, climbing right to the top. Just as we were about to get in the lift Denver said, ‘You wouldn’t know, you could go up these 70 stories and your whole world could change….It’d be like Willy Wonka and the Glass Elevator!’ He proposed at the top and although I didn’t believe him at first, when he tok out the gorgeous oval diamond ring, I believed and accepted!” explained Emma.
Back home and with a wedding to plan the couple set about arranging their dream day, keeping suppliers local and chose the breathtaking Killyhevlin Hotel as their reception venue. The hotel holds a special meaning to Emma’s parents who held their reception there 30 years before.
“As we are both from the country we wanted to have a little nod to those roots by including creamery cans, wild flowers and burlap throughout. My Dad restores Minis in his spare time, so having a fleet of Minis for our cars was an obvious choice. We purchased our own Mini for my birthday just before the wedding so we’ll always have our wedding car! The collection of Mini’s at the church and on the way to the hotel certainly was a talking point for everyone and we had so much fun travelling in our Mini convoy!” added Emma.
“We had the most wonderfully relaxed wedding day! My family were stressing out with me as I was I was itching to get to the church! We only live around the corner so 1 minute would have taken us there but I decided to leave 10mins early, I think I was just so excited!! Everything went to plan apart from a small oil leak from one of the Mini’s outside the church. We had to take this car home before moving onward to Tempo Manor to have our photographs taken, luckily a neighbour of ours opposite the church saw what had happened and he pulled out his own Mini to give it to us for the rest of the day!” said Emma.
Emma’s advice for other brides…
We both felt afterwards that we could hardly remember what happened and we were so glad to see the wedding video to refresh our memories! Definitely have a wedding video you will cherish it for years to come!
Time flies right up to the wedding, plan everything well in advance. You’ll have loads to do on the week before the wedding no matter how well organised you are. The time before your wedding is so precious, enjoy every moment and don’t sweat the small stuff! Soak up every second of the day as it really goes by in a flash, don’t stress about anything and remember why you are there, as long as you’re married at the end of the day everything important has went to plan!
