Emma and Gerard incorporated personal DIY elements into their elegant wedding day at Galgorm Resort.
Emma and Gerard met when they were just 17 through mutual friends and right from the off they knew they had the makings of a long and happy relationship. Five years into their relationship Gerard proposed to Emma in their home and the planning of their happy day began.
With 18 months until their wedding day Emma and Gerard took the task of planning very simply by working through each element choosing what they loved. Wanting to remain timeless with a classic look to their day Emma chose lots of neutral colours and natural fabrics to add personality and charm.
On her wedding day the sun was shining as Emma’s mum walked her up the aisle to meet Gerard at St.Joseph’s Church. Hannahstown. Emma wore a sweetheart neckline lace gown with lace straps and beautiful back detailing by Justin Alexander from Pronuptia Bridal in Belfast. Her bridesmaids wore delicate dresses designed by Biba in House of Fraser and carried hand tied bouquets of ivory roses. The couples cute pageboys carried a sign announcing Emma’s arrival and got plenty of attention in their little navy three piece suits.
Following their ceremony, Emma and Gerard and their guests travelled to Galgorm Resort where Emma’s DIY skills were on show! Her handmade candles and lanterns were a big big with the guests, whilst her wedding favours were a great treat to take home. The chocolate glitter bonbons had been made by hand by a friend and presented in white birdcage style favour boxes.
“The day was brilliant. Being with family and friends, and seeing everyone have a great time was the highlight. Also the car journey from the church to the Galgorm was lovely, just the two of us having a little time alone. On the way into the ceremony we had gale force winds! My veil also got caught in the church door and mum who was giving me away had to act swiftly to release it!” said Emma.
Emma’s advice for couples planning their own big day is to enjoy every second of the experience, work together with your groom and savour the time you spend planning.
Emma and Gerard headed to the Silversands Hotel in Mexico to end their wedding celebrations.
