Good morning brides-to-be! We’re hot on the heels of summer now but today we’re heading back to just before Christmas to Emma and Andrew’s sparkly winter wonderland wedding at Brownlow House, Lurgan. Complete with festive florals and an ice sculpture table plan, if you’re planning a winter wedding there’s loads of inspiration right here!
Emma first met Andrew when he first drove into the back of her whilst they were go-karting!
“We both volunteer for St John Ambulance and a group of us were out go-karting for a social night out. I met Andrew there, he actually ran into the back of my go-kart on purpose and nearly gave me whiplash! I think it was for attention! From there he got my number from a mutual friend and we started to get to know each other better!” explained Emma.
The couple got engaged during a weekend at Rove Valley Resort during Emma’s 21st birthday celebrations.
“At the hotel Andrew had planned we would go for a walk and he would propose then but it started raining this didn’t happen. I was getting ready for our dinner reservation and of course was in my fluffy blue pyjamas! Andrew insists that I kept going into the bag where he had hidden the ring and got so nervous he decided to do it then rather than waiting. He told me to stand up and close my eyes because he had a birthday present for me. Of course when I opened my eyes Andrew was down one one knee and popped the question!” added Emma.
Emma loved every second of planning their wedding. As she was still studying at University herself and Andrew took their time and planned ahead making sure they were keeping to their budget. The chose Brownlow House for their reception venue after Emma had saw it on ‘Don’t Tell The Bride’ and fell in love with the location.
“We didn’t have a specific theme as such but couldn’t resist incorporating some christmas elements as it was in December, such as the wintery flowers, our fireworks display, the refreshments of mulled wine and shortbread and our table plan which was set in ice. We just wanted to ensure that the wedding reflected us as a couple and our guests had fun. We added a number of personal touches such as an ‘our love story’ chalk board, baskets of cosmetics and toiletries in the bathrooms for our guests to use and our favours which were from the British Heart Foundation as I had cardiac surgery two years prior and the charity was close to both our hearts. We also had a Photo Booth as we wanted our guests to have fun and have some fun photos to remember the day with,” explained Emma.
On her wedding day Emma wore a stunning Maggie Sottero gown from La Boda Bridal in Banbridge, whilst her four maids wore high street soft charcoal grey dresses. To ad drama and vibrant colour her flowers were rich red roses with frosted berries and winter white foliage.
“The day was fantastic and I feel our guests enjoyed themselves, although we did run behind schedule and our evening party was started an hour later than planned, but this was no major issue. I loved the whole day! My highlights of the day would be obviously getting married to Andrew, and kicking my shoes off to dance in the evening time! Andrews highlights was also saying I Do to me and the fireworks display,” added Emma.
Emma and Andrew rounded off their wedding celebrations with a honeymoon in sunny Mexico!
