Celebrating Love and Joy with an Enchanting Winter Wedding
Love is a journey that begins with a moment, grows with a kiss, and lasts for eternity
In the heart of winter, amidst the twinkle of holiday lights and the soft glow of love’s tender flame, Emma Reavey and Tony Byrne embarked on a journey of a lifetime, culminating in a wedding day that will forever be etched in their memories as a tale of love, laughter, and cherished moments.
Their story began in Newry Co. Down, where fate intertwined their paths one fateful night in 2012 at a local nightclub. Little did they know that this chance encounter would blossom into a love that would withstand the test of time. Fast forward eleven years, and their love had only grown stronger, leading them to a momentous occasion in the beautiful city of Barcelona.
It was Easter Saturday, the 16th of April 2022, when Tony orchestrated a proposal beyond Emma’s wildest dreams. Against the backdrop of Montjuic Castle, amidst the lush greenery of a forest, Tony surprised Emma with a picturesque picnic overlooking the sprawling cityscape. With a delicate white gold ring, adorned with a round diamond and a full diamond band, Tony asked Emma to be his forever amongst the sweet notes of a pink cake that spelled out the words, “Will you marry me?” It was a moment of pure magic, a testament to the depth of their love and the thoughtfulness that bound them together.
With the excitement of their engagement still fresh in their hearts, Emma and Tony embarked on the journey of wedding planning, a whirlwind of joyous anticipation and heartfelt moments. Emma, a marketing executive with a keen eye for detail, found herself immersed in the world of bridal couture, eventually finding the perfect dress at Verona Bridal in November 2022. Emma had her stunning silver bridesmaid dresses made by family friend Marian Kelly; sister Aine Watt and Tony’s sisters Caoimhe and Ciara Byrne along with flowergirl and goddaughter Abi McNeill all looked absolutely in their one of kind gowns.
Meanwhile, Tony, a quantity surveyor with a penchant for precision, carefully curated every aspect of their wedding day, from the groomsmen’s attire to the exquisite details adorning the reception hall. With three groomsmen by his side, including his brother Aodhan Byrne and close friends Kevin Reavey and Ciaran Reavey, Tony stood tall and proud as he awaited his bride, his heart filled with love and gratitude for the woman who had captured his heart all those years ago.
On the 20th of December 2023, surrounded by 180 of their nearest and dearest, Emma and Tony exchanged vows of eternal love and devotion in the historic St. Mary’s Church, Barr, a stone’s throw away from Emma’s childhood home. With each tender word spoken, with each loving glance shared, Emma and Tony sealed their union, ready to embark on the adventure of a lifetime hand in hand.
Following the heartfelt ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests made their way to the enchanting Ballymagarvey Village in Co Meath, a picturesque setting reminiscent of a winter wonderland. As silver bridesmaids shimmered like stars against the backdrop of a frosted landscape, Emma and Tony revelled in the joy of the season, their love illuminating the room with a warmth that could rival the brightest of holiday lights.
From the glittering wreaths adorning the invitations to the soul-stirring melody of Kodaline’s “The One” that echoed through the air as Emma and Tony shared their first dance, every moment of their wedding day was a testament to the beauty of love and the joy of togetherness. As they laughed, danced, and celebrated into the wee hours of the morning, Emma and Tony knew that their love was a gift worth cherishing for eternity. Giving this advice to other couples planning their own day “Just enjoy every bit off it, some people stress about things that honestly aren’t important and people wont even notice. Luckily I didn’t really worry about much and just went with the flow and it really paid off as I enjoyed every minute”
Looking back on their wedding day, Emma and Tony are filled with gratitude for the love that surrounds them, for the memories that they hold dear, and for the journey that lies ahead. As they embark on the adventure of building their dream home together, they do so with hearts full of hope and a love that knows no bounds. For Emma and Tony, their wedding day was not just a celebration of love, but a testament to the enduring power of love to conquer all obstacles and illuminate even the darkest of days.
