Good afternoon, and a very happy St Patrick’s Day to you all!
Boy have we a beautiful treat in store for you right now; Sian and Christy were married in the Good Shepard Chapel last August. Their day had a lovely relaxed feeling, plenty of smiles and laughter and a country style theme. Photography was by Ronan McGovern & Nicola Lyons at Lifting the Veil Photography.
Sian and Christy were keen on planning a very relaxed feel for their wedding day for their family and friends.
“We designed our own invitations which were made of brown card bound with hessian string, the bridesmaids chose their own dresses in hues of peach and the flowers were quite loosely put together to create a vintage, country style. Christy and I really wanted our friends and family to feel like they could let their hair down and have fun on the day so we dispensed with a lot of the formal stuff like cutting the cake and having a first dance. It was the right choice for us as neither of us particularly enjoy being the centre of attention,” explained Sian.
For Sian choosing a wedding dress that she felt both comfortable and glamorous in was very important. She headed to Marie Me Bridal in Randalstown where Eilish and Fiona helped her choose the perfect flowing gown with lace back detail and lace cap sleeves.
“The dress felt and looked perfect, Eilish kept saying that she could imagine me running barefoot through a meadow in it!” added Sian.
The couple held their reception in the new Renaissance Suite in Galgorm Resort, which acted as the perfect beautiful backdrop for their elegant day.
“I don’t normally wear heels but got very excited about a beautiful pair of rose gold Badgely Mischka shoes I spied online. I coerced a friend who’d been staying in San Francisco to pick up the last pair in my size and he carefully couriered them home to me. I was so excited to wear them, but on the day I had a slipped disc in my back and was in considerable pain so I actually only wore them for the duration of the walk down the aisle! As soon as I got to the altar, I kicked the shoes off and got married in my bare feet – so Eilish was pretty close to the mark with her prediction! By the time the ceremony was over and we’d greeted all the guests individually my feet were pretty cold! Luckily I had anticipated not lasting the full day in heels and had also bought myself a blingy pair of Converse (also in rose gold) as back-up. These saw me through till 4am when I finally hit the hay!” said Sian.
As both Christy and Sian work as TV editors for the same company getting time off together can be tricky so instead of a honeymoon straight after their wedding the couple held off until Christmas. Their three week honeymoon included their first ever Christmas Day together in Orlando, Florida, followed by a relaxing New Years Eve in Mexico.
