Good evening brides! Yes, January seems never-ending but tonight we are sharing the most elegant of days. Jennifer, a Doctor from Fermanagh married her English fiancé, Fraser last October in her parish church with a beautiful reception at the Lough Erne Resort in Enniskillen. The immaculate day was captured by Erica Irvine Photography.
Jennifer and Fraser first met during a Christmas night out. “We were both at the University of Aberdeen Cycling Club Christmas night out. Fraser was in the cycling club and my friend’s boyfriend was in it too. I thought I would go to keep my friend company only to be lucky enough to meet Fraser! It came apparent afterwards it had been prearranged by my friends for us to meet!” said Jennifer.
During those Christmas holidays the pair began to message each other and on returning back to University Fraser asked Jennifer out. During their first date it was very clear to see they got on very well and had similar goals in life.
“On our first date both of us said that New York was at the top of our list for places we wanted to visit. We planned a holiday at the end of November 2014 to New York. On arrival to the Big Apple Fraser surprised me with a suite in the famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel. When we arrived into the suite Fraser unexpectedly popped the question!” explained Jennifer.
Neither of the couple wanted a long engagement and the wheels were soon in motion for their simple and classic wedding in October 2015.
“We thought an autumnal wedding would be nice and we were lucky to get an available Friday at the Lough Erne Resort at the beginning of October. As a couple we were probably very relaxed with the planning but we were lucky to have my Mum back home in Fermanagh who was fantastic with the organising,” added Jennifer.
Jennifer was so relaxed about the day she chose her wedding gown in the very first bridal shop she visited! It was during a visit to Serendipity Bridal Boutique in Fivemiletown she chose her beautiful lace gown, it was the fourth dress she tried on! Their day was kept elegant and simple with Fraser wearing a kilt in his mum’s tartan, whilst the fathers wore grey morning suits.
“The day went very well but also went by so fast. We were very lucky with the weather as it was a warm sunny day and everyone was able to enjoy the drinks reception outside at the Lough Erne. Besides the obvious part of getting married, the highlight of the day was when the band began to play and all the guests came onto the dance floor. The band played a variety of music and it was good to see people of all abilities, or lack of, during the waltzing,” said Jennifer.
Jennifer’s Advice
Don’t have a long engagement. Decisions and ideas can be difficult and made harder with more time to deliberate.
