With a pastel colour scheme, Emma-Kate and Karol’s wedding at Lusty Beg Island was a handmade laid-back celebration of their love.
Emma-Kate and karol gee up around the corner from each other but romance didn’t blossom until many years later when they both returned to Omagh after college. The couple took it slowly letting their love and friendship grow stronger over the years and eight years on in 2010 they moved in together. Two years later Karol proposed on a secluded beach in Fuertaventura which although they had chatted about marriage, came as a surprise to Emma-Kate. Karol proposed with a family heirloom, his late grandmothers antique diamond and turquoise brooch which they later sent to their silversmith friend in Canada to have made into a bespoke engagement ring.
The couple began to plan their wedding for June 2014 in Lusty Beg but shortly after setting the date and booking the venue Emma-Kate injured her back and was told she would require spinal surgery. Heartbroken, Emma-Kate and Karol decided they had to put the wedding on hold in order to give her time to recover. They moved the date to April 2015 and began planning their dream date, with the hope that Emma-Kate would be well enough to walk down the aisle.
With a soft romantic feel to their day Emma-Kate wore a lightweight lace and embellished gown, whilst her bridesmaids wore short floral print gowns which complimented the wildflower style floral arrangements.
Emma-Kate’s sister, an artist and designer by trade undertook the job of room decor and table centrepieces, both of which were an amazing sight. “She knew exactly what I wanted as we have the same great taste! The only specifications was the colour scheme, and with months of hard work she finally turned my vision and ideas into reality, bringing every little detail to life. She hand crafted two beautiful 7ft eye catching wish trees, with sculpted detail that mimicked the pattern in my dress. Each of the trees held little photos of Karol and I growing up in vintage frames hanging within it’s branches, giving the décor a very personal touch. She also created a large 3D floral backdrop made of individual paper flowers that were all hand painted as well as the unique table number plaques with beautiful detailing,” said Emma-Kate.
“The highlight for both of us was standing outside overlooking the lough surrounded by water and nature, our friends and family. As we said our vows the sun came out and I knew my mum was smiling down on us and sending her love through the sunshine. We couldn’t stop smiling all day and loved being surrounded by our nearest and dearest,” added Emma-Kate.
Emma-Kate and Karol spent their honeymoon in Barbados.
