Childhood Sweethearts to Castle Newlyweds
Erin & George’s Fermanagh Fairytale
Some love stories unfold slowly, with fate dropping little hints along the way—like sitting in the same classrooms, walking the same corridors, and not realising the person you’d one day marry was right there with you. For Erin Brown of Florencecourt and George Foster of Brookeborough, destiny began nudging them early.
Their story truly began at a summer church camp when they were just 14 and 15. A friendship blossomed, and by the next year, they were “official”—blissfully unaware that they also attended the same school. Childhood sweethearts then, husband and wife now… proof that sometimes the sweetest stories are the ones that start young.
A Castle, a Walk, and a Surprise
On the 27th of September 2024, Erin had just driven home from uni in Belfast, expecting nothing more than a walk and lunch. But George had a different plan—one that involved Belle Isle Castle, autumn sunlight, and a little velvet ring box.
As they paused to admire the view at the front of the castle, George dropped to one knee. The moment was simple, beautiful, and perfectly them. The ring—a pear-shaped stone on a gold band—sparkled just as brightly as Erin’s yes.
Saying Yes to the Dress
When it came to the dress, destiny stepped in again. At White House Bridal, Erin slipped into the very first gown… and that was it. No need to try on all of Pinterest. Surrounded by her mum and bridesmaids, she knew immediately it was the one. Amanda, who owns the boutique, made the experience even more magical.
Her bridesmaids—Kerrie, Stephanie, Nadia, and Sarah—wore satin dusky-blue gowns from Six Stories, perfectly matching the minimalistic, classy vibe that floated through the whole celebration.
George and the groomsmen—Ben, Luke, Joel, and Neil—looked incredibly sharp in traditional tails from McCalls of Lisburn.
Bringing a Vision to Life
Erin had dreamt of her wedding for years, and watching her ideas, sketches, and Pinterest boards turn into reality was a joy in itself. The flowers had a natural wildflower feel, the stationery was clean and elegant, the bridesmaids glowed in blue, and the venue—Belle Isle Castle—tied it all together in timeless perfection.
The only stress? Trying to remember every tiny detail and logistical puzzle. (As every bride knows, seating plans alone could qualify as an Olympic sport.)
The Big Day
Date: 15 August 2025
Ceremony: Florencecourt Methodist Church
Reception: Belle Isle Castle & Estate
Guests: 150
The sun beamed from morning to night, which was just as well—guests spent the day wandering the enchanting castle grounds, sipping drinks to acoustic guitar music, and soaking in the beauty all around.
One of the sweetest personal touches: on each table sat framed children’s drawings and quotes about love and marriage—adorable, heart-melting, and guaranteed conversation starters. Guests also received “Love is Brewing” favours—tea, coffee, and a Biscoff treat to enjoy later.
The first dance was a moment to remember: Erin began in her father’s arms before he gently passed her to George as Love Like This by Ben Rector played—a perfect soundtrack to the beginning of their forever.
Emotional Moments & Favourite Memories
For Erin, the highlight came at the bottom of the church aisle, arms linked with her dad. Looking up, she saw her friends and family filling the pews and George waiting at the front—eyes shining, smile wide. It was overwhelming in the best possible way.
For both bride and groom, having all their favourite people in one place was unbeatable.
And in true fairytale fashion, nothing major went wrong—not a disaster in sight.
Honeymooning & Life as Newlyweds
After a dreamy honeymoon in Paphos, Cyprus, Erin and George stepped into real life—new home, new marriage, new jobs starting at the same time. Hectic? Absolutely. But they wouldn’t have it any other way.
Married life, Erin says, “felt normal straight away,” but also exciting—like finally stepping into the chapter they’d been building toward since they were teenagers.
Erin & George’s Advice to Other Couples
Enjoy every moment.
Do what you and your fiancé want—your wedding should feel like the two of you, not a checklist for everyone else.
