Good morning lovely wedding planners!
We hope you’re enjoying this glorious weather – we certainly have been! After a week on holiday we’re back in the GMINI office putting some finishing touches to our Autumn Winter issue, stay tuned later in the month for some great sneak peeks of what’s in store for you.
Today we’re headed to the beautiful setting of the Stormont Hotel in Belfast to Victoria and Paul’s beautiful May wedding. The couple, who first got together after meeting during a night out were married in Sydenham Methodist Church, Belfast and travelled with their guests to the Stormont where the beautiful result of Victoria’s hard work was easily seen! “I love tea sets and fine china and these were the main theme of our decorations at the Stormont Hotel. During the run up to the wedding I collected tea sets and cups, and decided to make cake stands for the table centres,” said Victoria.
“After discussing getting engaged, Paul kept me waiting until an October dog walk at Holywood Seapark where he popped the question! We knew we didn’t want a really long engagement and so we started looking at venues. We needed somewhere that would hold our large numbers and so the Stormont hotel was high on our list. Once we met Natalie we agreed it was the place to hold our big day. From then Pinterest was my wedding guide, and having been to lots of weddings I knew the suppliers I wanted for our day,” added Victoria.
Victoria chose a soft blue and pink colour scheme and together with help from her mum and brother the quirky and romantic tea party ideas came to life. “My mum was a great help and every time I went to her house, she’d found some more cups! I glued the teacup and saucer together and then these where to be filled with flowers. My brother helped me make the cake stands, which involved collecting various sizes of plates and teapots. With a lot of trial and error we managed to get the cake stands looking amazing, with teapots, or milk jugs on top to hold extra flowers. Marie Cafolla was a massive help in this process and without her hard work and enthusiasm we may not have been able to make it work. It was tricky but I was so glad the ideas paid off as the flowers were one of my favourite things on the day,” explained Victoria.
“My highlight was knowing that the day had all come together so well. I loved seeing our beautiful cars, and was completely blown away by the flowers – I loved them! Taking the first step up the aisle with my dad and seeing everyone there was amazing. I loved seeing how great the table centres had worked out and how good the reception looked, that took a massive weight off. The standout highlight of my day was getting the dancing started, and having our first dance together. It sounds cliché, but the whole day was just perfect, and I had so much fun,” added Victoria.
