A Fairytale Love
“Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” — Emily Brontë
From a momentous meeting on a Halloween night in Dublin to a dreamy wedding at Killeavy Castle, Naomi Lynch and Conor McCormack’s love story is a beautiful journey of fate, laughter, and unwavering support.
Naomi Lynch, a 31-year-old salon manager from Bettystown, Co. Meath, first crossed paths with Conor McCormack, a 33-year-old business owner from Jonesborough, Co. Armagh, on a lively night out in Dublin back in October 2018. What began as a chance encounter at Jimmy Rabbitt’s on Camden Street soon blossomed into a deep connection. Although the bustling night led them in separate ways, fate wasn’t finished with them yet. A follow request on Instagram the next day led to their first official date at the Laughter Lounge, where a simple handhold crossing the road hinted at a future filled with instinctive love and support.
Fast forward to December 2022, Conor chose the picturesque Ravensdale Forest, a place that has always meant a lot to Conor, for his proposal. On a wintry day, they ventured out for a walk before heading to the Belfast Christmas markets. As Naomi paused to take in the serene surroundings, she turned to find Conor on one knee, laughter and love in his eyes. The answer was a resounding yes, turning that Christmas season into a celebration of their joyous news.
Naomi found her dream dress at The White Gallery in Warrenpoint. The Grace dress by Vivienne Westwood was love at first sight. The experience was magical, from the welcoming owner, Rachel, to the array of stunning dresses. Naomi’s sister, Rachael, donned an icy blue Jenny Yoo dress from The Suite in Rathmines, perfectly complementing Naomi’s elegant Bardot neckline gown.
Conor and his groomsman, Cathal, looked dapper in suits from Bogarts in Newry, adding a touch of classic charm to the wedding ensemble. Naomi loved every moment of planning the wedding, particularly the dress shopping adventures with her mom and sister. The visits to their venue, Killeavy Castle, only heightened the anticipation and excitement.
On the 15th of June, 2024, under the slight drizzle that couldn’t dampen their spirits, Naomi and Conor exchanged vows at The Walled Gardens of Killeavy Castle. Surrounded by 120 guests, the ceremony, led by the personable humanist celebrant Claire Taylor, was nothing short of magical. The elegant simplicity of the day reflected in the white long-stemmed roses, the gold candelabras, and the floral-dressed chandeliers.
The celebration continued into the Pavilion, where gold-framed table numbers and tealight holders added a personal touch. Highlights of the reception included customized drawings by Aine Pollock and outdoor games that kept guests entertained. As the night progressed, fireworks by Emerald Fireworks illuminated the sky, encapsulating the joy and wonder of the day.
Despite minor worries about the weather, the wedding day was flawless. Conor’s highlight was the moment Naomi walked down the aisle, while Naomi cherished the cheers and claps as they exited as husband and wife to the tune of “Bittersweet Symphony” by a string quartet. Their first dance to Taylor Swift’s “Lover” was a tender moment that marked the beginning of their new chapter.
After a brief honeymoon at Slieve Russell, with plans for a sun-soaked escape to Marbella in August, Naomi and Conor are enjoying married life. The thrill of calling each other husband and wife, combined with the newfound calmness in their evenings, makes every moment special. Their advice to other couples? “To really take in the whole day. Everyone says it but the day just flies in. Take in all the little moments and don’t worry about anyone else enjoying themselves just focus on the two of you”
