Good evening brides-to-be, we sure hope you’ve been able to enjoy the official first day of autumn and the weather has been kind to you. The sun has been peeking in and out in Tyrone, so spirits are high! This evening we’re delighted to share the vibrant and fun wedding of Naomi and Glenn Gilmore. The couple were married in May in Dromore and held their reception in the La Mon Hotel and Country Club. Photographer, Graham Crichton was on hand to capture all the quirky details of their day.
The couple met when Naomi was 16 and two months later began dating.
“We both began going out under the impression that it was something serious, not just a teenage fling. From very early on we both knew that we would get married someday, and four years later we were engaged to be married!” explained Naomi.
In July 2013 Glenn headed to America with his family for a holiday, and whilst away Naomi sent him a link to an engagement ring as a joke, little did she know Glenn had already purchased a ring in New York! On his return from America Glenn waited six hours at Naomi’s house to ask her Dad’d permission before popping the question during a romantic picnic.
“Planning wasn’t as difficult as I had thought. I had great family and friends to help with it. The Sunday after we got engaged my mum, dad and myself went to La Mon Wedding open day. We met a lady called Karen and she was absolutely fantastic, she showed us the I Do, We Do Package’ which included everything from cars to the evening DJ. We decided to go for this package. My Dad was great at helping to keep us organised, Dad had made a spreadsheet of everything that needed to be done and who needed to organise it. I also had a scrap book and if I saw something that I liked then I would have cut it out and I would stick it in. We also went to a few different wedding fairs, these are great to get ideas for planning and to see different peoples work,” said Naomi.
With a vintage, multi-colour theme Naomi chose a short wedding gown and also complementing turquoise short dresses for her maids. Her flowers were a dazzling mix of vibrant shades which brought the day together and worked well with her handmade items.
“Dad and I worked very hard and made the Invitations, table names, place cards and table plan. All of the table names and place cards were a different colour and the table plan had coloured ribbon on a mirror. Our friends decorated the entire church for us. They painted an old rusty bike and made it look amazing, they decorated the upstairs part of the church for everyone after the service and they made everything look even better than we had imagined,” added Naomi.
“The day was fantastic. It was so relaxed, we really did enjoy every single minute. We took everything in and loved having all our family and friends with us to celebrate the start of our lives together. The highlight for me was seeing over 200 people in our church to watch and support Glenn and myself as we started life together as husband and wife. Glenn’s highlight were the speeches. He loved all the crazy stories my dad and his brother brought up and amazing memories from the years they have known us,” said Naomi.
Naomi’s Advice
Planning your wedding is the easy bit, when it comes to completing those plans it becomes stressful. Make sure you have friends and family around you that can help. Try and be organised and do not take on too much yourself.
