Let’s get married by the sea
Melissa and David opted for a simple but chic wedding on the north coast in June 2019.
After meeting at the Central Bar in Ballycastle in 2015 it was only fitting that the proposal took place at the nearby Whitepark Bay Beach. They chose a teardrop shaped diamond ring at a jewellers in Birmingham.
Melissa, a retail assistant from Ballintoy found her dream dress at Marie Therese Bridal in Coleraine. She was so impressed with the service that she also chose her bridesmaids’ dresses from the boutique.
The two bridesmaids were Melissa’s sister Annie and David’s sister Laura. They both looked stunning in white dresses. The choice of a white dress lead to a heart stopping moment when Annie accidently got lipstick on her dress just before arriving at the Church but the show went on!
Quarry operator David chose his brother Ryan as his best man and Melissa’s brother Matthew as his usher. All three men were kitted out by Tweedy Acheson Formal Hire of Coleraine.
The big day arrived on Saturday 8th June 2019 and the couple wed at Ballintoy Parish Church in with 80 guests in attendance.
A beautiful photo shoot at the beach followed with the coastline being so linked to the couple’s history.
Afterwards the bride and groom enjoyed a brilliant reception at the Tullyglass hotel with their close friends and family. They danced to Ellie Goulding’s ‘Love me like you do’.
For both the bride and groom the highlight of the day was a surprise from their friends.
“Our friends put on canapés, homemade sausage rolls, pizza, popcorn, champagne in their quirky shaped house at Ballintoy harbour, the beach I spent my childhood on,” Melissa said.
Looking back on the day Melissa and David would not change a thing. They would advise other couples planning their wedding to spend 10 minutes in peace with each other in the midst of a very busy day.
The whole planning process was something Melissa really enjoyed, especially the dress shopping and cake tasting!
The most stressful part in her opinion: “ Picking the venue and making table plans.”
The bride and groom ended their wedding celebrations with a relaxing honeymoon in Fuerteventura.
