It’s a… ring!
Leanne Shilliday was expecting a baby when boyfriend Christopher Laverty popped the question. After going to their first baby scan, Christopher got down on one knee while out for a meal on June 6th, 2018.
Leanne said, ‘I turned around and Chris was on one knee. The ring was amazing – it was from Ernest and Jones.’
The ring has 3 statement diamonds with a diamond band.
After 5 years together, they were engaged and started planning their big day.
Leanne found her dress at Wed2Be in Belfast. She told us, ‘I knew it was the one as soon as I saw it. It was exciting trying on all the different dresses and then to finally say yes to my dress was amazing’
Leanne also got her two best friends and bridesmaids, Linda Pilkington and Melissa Mackin’s dresses at Wed2Be. Their one shouldered dresses were dusty pink and matched with pearl necklaces.
The groomsmen Christophers’ brother Aaron and best friend John Gilroy got their outfits from JJ Donnelly’s in Ballynahinch.
The date was set – 19th August 2021 at Hugh McCann’s hotel in Newcastle.
The couple shared their day with 80 guests and said it said it was amazing from start to finish.
Leanne and Christopher told us, “It was one of the best days of our lives. The best part of planning was doing it together but covid made it stressful with changing dates. But our advice to other couples is to enjoy the planning for your big day and get help when you need it.”
The couples’ first dance was to ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri and entertainment was by The Just Adam Band.
