Today we’re totally ignoring the very wet situation outside our window and really enjoying Emma and Karl’s beautiful June wedding at the Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey with photography by Catriona Corrigan from Divine Photography. The stunning style and quirky personalised details will help you forget the weather, too!
Emma and Karl met on during a night out through mutual friends, clicked immediately and their relationship grew from there. In March 2013 Karl treated Emma to a weekend at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cavan, where he had a very important question to ask.
“He wrote, ‘Will you marry me Emma’ with rose petals and got down on one knee, it was very romantic! The ring was absolutely perfect, it was a platinum set diamond cluster with a four claw setting, I love it!” said Emma.
After choosing their date and booking Emma’s local chapel the couple started to consider reception venues and visited a bridal fayre at the Villa Rose Hotel in Ballybofey.
“When we visited the hotel we knew it was the one, it was just us, it had such a relaxed homely feel and the staff were extra friendly, nothing was a bother, especially for the wonderful Rhonda! Next on the list were the flowers, it had to be Stephen Mallon! Then we found a wonderful photographer- Catriona (Divine Photography) and we just knew straight away she was the photographer for us as we wanted someone who let us be ourselves. Everything else just followed from there, we picked everything together, it was nice both having an input,” added Emma.
Emma chose a romantic off the shoulder lace gown from Perfect Day in Lurgan which worked beautifully with her vintage themed day.
“We had a vintage theme running through the wedding; the invitations reflected my dress and so did the cake. I worked with Cupid Creations with some ideas I had for elements of the day, we wanted our parents to play a big part, I bought three matching frames and I had a picture of both our parents in two of them and in the third frame I got the verse ‘The Art of Marriage’ printed. We also had a farm theme, as Karl is a farmer. We had wellies with flowers in them, milk churns and cow print cupcakes for guests on arrival provided by Truly Scrumptious. We did not have a table plan as it just wasn’t us, we wanted everyone to be relaxed, so Charlene from Cupid Creations made us a sign to match in with our décor which said ‘ Come as you are, stay as long as you can, we are all family and friends here, so no seating plan’. Everyone mixed really well and had a brilliant time; some even commented that they felt more relaxed picking their own seats,” explained Emma.
“The whole day was amazing, I wouldn’t change anything! Moments that stand out for me was bringing my mummy in the car with me as well as Daddy leaving the house to go to the chapel and I will always remember that. I also will remember walking up the aisle and thinking Karl was never going to step out of the pew! But a big highlight of my day was hearing the speeches and hearing things that I have never heard people say before, it was lovely. I will also treasure how much everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and we all never left the dance floor!” added Emma.
