Family Friends
Courtney and Adam’s families have been friends for many years so it was a very special occasion when the couple married, joining the two families together.
Whitepark Bay on a crisp December morning provided a stunning location for Adam to pop the question in 2019. A barbecue breakfast for two completed the romantic set-up.
“He wrote me a letter and when I’d finished reading it, he was on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was just how I wanted it; at my favourite place, with no one around,” said Courtney.
The happy bride-to-be was thrilled with her engagement ring from Murray & Co in Belfast.
“It is a round brilliant cut diamond with a tight cushion halo on a plain gold band,” she told us.
Courtney took her mum to look at dresses in The Wedding Box in Newtownards.
“I could only take one person, so I chose my mum and loved that it was just the two of us,” she said.
It was the first bridal shop the bride-to-be visited, and it was there that she fell in love with a simple, A line gown with a sweetheart neckline. Just to be sure of her choice, Courtney visited a few other boutiques but soon came back to The Wedding Box to order her dream dress. Courtney ordered extra material so sweeping off-shoulder sleeves could be attached later. Courtney was so impressed with her experience at the boutique.
She said, “Alison at The Wedding Box couldn’t have been more helpful and her experience in the wedding dress industry is so evident.”
Courtney chose four bridesmaids, her sister Chloe, Adam’s sister Lauren and friends Catherine and Morgan. With four ladies to choose a dress for Courtney opted for blush pink, full length, multiway dresses meaning each bridesmaid could wear the dress in a way that suited them.
“They each looked amazing and the styles flattered them so well!” said Courtney.
Hire Class NI provided Remus Uomo suits for Adam, his best man and cousin Jamie and his groomsmen, friends Jonathan and Matthew and Courtney’s brother Matthew.
Courtney and Adam married in Dundonald Elim Church on 16th July 2021 with around 100 guests in attendance. Courtney was initially worried that Covid restrictions would have an impact on their guest list.
“We worried if we would be able to invite all of the most important people in our lives, thankfully we were so lucky that we could!” she said.
After the ceremony the newlyweds were joined by their guests at the beautifully rustic Wool Tower in Broughshane. Creative Courtney put her own stamp on the venue décor with lots of white flowers, eucalyptus, wooden signage and pillar candles.
“I just wanted to incorporate lots of white and greenery to compliment the beautiful, rustic venue,” she said.
The day ran perfectly with the revellers basking in 28-degree sunshine and enjoying a variety of mocktails and garden games.
The couple danced to Michael Bublé’s Everything though Sweet Caroline was the hit of the night! Later in the evening the guests were treated to waffles evoking memories of the couple’s recent trip to Brussels.
“We love city breaks and one of our favourite trips was Brussels so we thought this would be a little nod to a lovely memory!” they told us.
Looking back on their big day Courtney and Adam would not change a thing. They continued their celebrations with a road trip around Ireland taking in Donegal, Westport, Mullingar, Maynooth and Dublin and later a few days in Edinburgh.
