The Answer To Your Question Is ~ ‘I Do!’
Is this love or am I dreaming?
Armagh girl Ciara Fields met Ciaran McCartan from Castlewellan online almost 10 years ago, as soon as they met, they just knew this was it, this is what love is. Their love grew from there and was completed with an ‘I do!’ and two sons Cónán & Ruadhán.
A proposal took place in June 2018 in the kitchen of their home, with just Ciara and Ciaran along with little Cónán. Ciaran proposed with a beautifully elegant white gold ring with a central diamond and diamonds on either side.
A wedding date was set for 4th May 2023, which was also their 9th anniversary, the venue was picked, The Four Season’s Hotel in Monaghan, a sage green and blush theme was arranged, a guest list of 110 was chosen; now all they needed were the outfits.
Ciara chose her gown in “Off The Rail” in Newry, Pauline helped make her experience everything she could have imagined. Ciara said “The lady Pauline I dealt with was fantastic, she brought out the dresses I thought I wanted. However, at the very end Pauline brought out a dress that she thought would be the one, and low and behold that was it!” Ciara said about the experience “I was relaxed and calm throughout the whole wedding prep, I’m pretty organised”
Bridesmaid dresses came from Creative Ideas in Armagh for sisters in law Helen and Louise, along with best friend Deborah.
The suits for Ciaran and brother Aidan, cousin Paul and friend Eoghan along with pageboys and sons Cónán & Ruadhán came from McCartan Bros in Newry.
Ciara is pretty good at organising so was in her element planning their big day, although they both really enjoyed it, the only stressful part were the families, they told us “Families – generally trying to not get too overwhelmed by what everyone else was looking and just focusing on how we wanted the day to run”
Incorporating their theme of sage green and blush through the flowers and cake along with bridesmaid dresses, the bride and groom wanted a toned down colour scheme to tie in with the time of year. The couple had an amazing day, one of the best parts was as Ciara told us “My father-in-law and his brother’s/uncle performed the YMCA in the Village people costumes at the evening reception which was fantastic”
Thankfully there were no disasters, the day went perfectly from the ceremony right through, they told us “Being able to enjoy our day with our sons and both our families was the highlight of our day”
They agreed that they wouldn’t do anything differently, even their first dance was perfect, literally; ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran.
The happy couple gave this advice for other couples planning their big day “Do exactly what you want and try not to listen to anyone else and just fully enjoy the whole experience as it is over before you realise it”
Ciara and Ciaran jetted of to Nice, France for their honeymoon and are enjoying married life, although they told us “We have been together that long now it was just natural”
