Good evening Brides-to-be! What a beautiful, sparkly and glamorous wedding we have to share with you tonight, and we’re going to let you in on a secret, bride Catherine was once a Getting Married in Northern Ireland girl, having worked on the magazine a few years ago. It’s lovely to catch up with her now as she lives in London and share her day to Peter with you all.
Catherine and Peter first met in 2009 during a night out in their hometown of Armagh. When Catherine made the huge decision to leave her home, job, family and friends to move to be with Peter in London, everyone knew their fate was sealed, and by the following Christmas in 2012, she had a sparkler on her finger and the wedding planning began.
Being a super organised bride-to-be, Catherine set about planning her day with excitement, even though she was planning a home wedding whilst she lived in London. With lots of help and guidance from her family and too many flights home to count their day came together in one sparkling vision.
On Septmeber, 5th 2014, Catherine and Peter were married in the majestic surroundings of St Patricks Cathedral, Armagh. Catherine wore a stunning Maggie Sottero gown and accessorised with a headpiece and jewellery handmade by Helen Fitzpatrick. Her maids also teamed their pale pink and aubergine gowns with bespoke Helen Fitzpatrick creations, whilst Orchid Bridal Studio from Portadown created lush bouquets of roses featuring coloured feathers.
Peter wanted a suit that emulated the 1920’s look so headed to Statement Menswear in Portadown where he chose a grey suit with plaid waistcoats. His look was finished off with a matching tie and pocket square, cufflinks and tie pin.
Peters highlight of their day was seeing Catherine walk up the aisle. For Catherine seeing all her closest friends and family together in the same place, celebrating their day stands out.
The couple headed to Radisson Farnham Estate for their reception. Here guests were treated to lots of special treats imagined by Catherine and made by her friends.
“For the reception we named our tables after old Hollywood stars. My friend Denise designed our stunning table plan and my friend Francesca designed the table names, which I enhanced with embellished frames from Etsy. Our florist Neil from Orchid Bridal put together the most amazing centrepieces for the reception tables. The day came together perfectly,” said Catherine.
Look at that train! Wow!
“The day was fantastic, we both had a brilliant time and were so humbled by everyone’s well wishes and generosity. We were so happy to have our family and friends present to celebrate with us. A couple of small things went wrong on the day but nobody noticed only us and we soon forgot about it!” added Catherine.
“After the excitement of the wedding we went to the Maldives, it was the perfect way to relax after the all the planning and we had an amazing time,” said Catherine.
