Good afternoon, this week we’ve been getting a few little highlights of the pretty weddings days to come in our next issue – we’re already so excited!
Today we’ve something just as special and beautiful to share, Irish TV presenter, Aislínn Hagan’s New Year wedding to Seamus. Their day was full of elegance and charm, and of course, true romance. Thanks to Lauren Rutherford Photography for the gorgeous images.
After getting engaged on Christmas morning, Aislínn and Seamus chose the majestic setting of Castle Bellingham to hold their reception. “I always wanted to get married in County Louth. My family have been going to Carlingford for generations and I knew I wanted to make that our base for our Wedding guests however I also knew I wanted to have our reception in a Castle so I had to look a little further afield. Driving home from Dublin on St Patrick’s Day we both seen a sign for Castle Bellingham and decided we would take a detour and check it out,” explained Aislínn.
Aislínn wanted a modern day princess look for her wedding and chose a breathtaking mikado silk Pronovias gown from La Boda Bridal in Banbridge. The gown had a fitted Audrey Hepburn style top, low waist and A line skirt. Her maids wore incredible Chi Chi London tea length dresses with tulle filled skirts. To keep them warm on the chilly December day they teamed them with blue woollen coats.
“We wanted our day to be a traditional Irish family wedding full of Christmas cheer, music and good food. I just adore Christmas and from when I was a little girl I always dreamed of getting married at this special time of year. Winter Wonderland thus was my theme, I wanted to create an old fashioned wedding straight out of a fairy-tale book,” added Aislínn.
From the ceremony in St Patrick’s Cathedral Dundalk to the reception at Castle Bellingham, impressive floral displays and candlelight were used throughout. “At the bottom of the aisle I had the most wonderful arch of roses, it was beautiful and a surprise from my Uncle Sean and his wife Daniela. They own McPeakes Florists and provided all the flowers, displays and dressed the castle and chapel. I remember standing at the top of the aisle watching the bridesmaids go walk down and it was just perfect, they really pulled out all the stops to make our dreams come. The dining room was enchanting. Our top table had rose gold tablecloths and entirely covered with the baby breath flowers and candles. The guests tables where all different in size and shape and could be described as a sea of candles, with the baby breath rings from the chapel placed at the centre of each candelabra,” explained Aislínn.
Aislínn’s Highlight
There were two highlights of the day for me. The first was going to the church in the car with my Mum & Dad. They mean the world to me so it was so special to have that hour to ourselves before the wedding started. The second was walking down the aisle towards Seamus with my Dad at my side. It was so overwhelming to see all the people we love in the chapel at the same time, knowing that they were all there to share our special day. I couldn’t wait to see Seamus at the top of the alter and as corny as it sounds it did feel as though I was walking towards my new future as Mr & Mrs. I have never been happier than in that one moment.
Seamus’ Highlight
The highlight of the day for me apart from seeing my beautiful wife at the alter had to be our first dance, being from Kerry I wanted something traditional and after much debate with Ash we settled on an old Christy Hennessy number called “I will”. We asked the band to try and learn it but if it was too difficult to play, the CD would do. So when the song started and I heard the most beautiful female version of this enchanting tune, it really just blew me away and will be a memory I will treasure forever.
