Typically, Northern Irish brides and grooms are prepared for rain, it just comes with the territory of living in this gorgeous green country! Given a choice most couples would choose to have a dry day, but incase the heavens do open here’s a few ideas and tips to ensure your wedding day is not a washout…
Rain on your wedding day is actually good luck!
Sure your guests will probably say this to you if it’s lashing outside, but in some cultures it actually is considered good luck for a marriage, signifying fertility and a long marriage.
Shoe shopping – okay, welly boot shopping!
Time to go welly shopping! If you want to invest money in a pair of Hunters or Joules wellies, go for it, but cheaper alternative can be picked up for half the price. Make sure you sort out your maids and any little ones too.
Pretty umbrellas
Most limo companies will have an umbrella or two on hand for you but if you want to make a statement with them in your photographs why not choose some quirky bright or heart shaped ones to make the rain clouds disappear.
Useful favours
Speaking of umbrellas, guests at an April wedding, when showers are almost positively going to fall, will benefit from a useable wedding favour- their very own umbrella!
Don’t miss the romantic photos
Get cosy with your groom under an umbrella and let your photographer capture some dramatic and romantic shots, they’ll look great on your walls for years to come.
Or the fun photos
You and your maids will have good craic posing with your umbrellas!
If it rains on your wedding day, dance it off, laugh it off, have a splash and don’t let anything stop you from celebrating. At the end of the day – rain or shine- you’re still going to be married to the love of your life!
