Humanist weddings are non-religious ceremonies which are totally centred on the couple, their values and their unique story. They can take place anywhere indoors or outside – in the woods or on the beach, in the garden or on a mountain – and at any time, so not limited by the availability of registrars, They can be traditional or unconventional, formal or relaxed – however the couple wants it to be. They are officiated by a humanist celebrant and there i sno need to have a ceremony in a church or at the register office. Five years ago the Court of Appeal in Belfast ruled that couples must be able to have legal humanist marriages, following a campaign by Laura Lacole and Eunan O’Kane which was supported by Northern Ireland Humanists. This means that in Northern Ireland today humanist marriage is legally recognised, and non-religious couples can marry in a way which is authentic to, and reflective of, them. Our humanist wedding celebrants skillfully craft unique and personal weddings which perfectly match the couples’ non-religious beliefs, in a way that is warm and genuine. The celebrant will spend time getting to know the couple so that on the big day, they can tell their unique love story in a meaningful way. The ceremonies are not religious in their content and are always inclusive and welcoming to people of different beliefs and backgrounds. Highly trained and annually accredited, our celebrants ensure delivery of a gold standard service on this most important of days and, as trusted partners, they work to create custom-made, deeply personal and heartfelt ceremonies which truly capture the essence of the couple.
